Wow, so fun to come across this. I took classes with Leilani Kaihewalu for a couple of years, back when i was around 13/14 years old (early 1980s)...bits of this still lodged in my body memory. Was so great to get my start in martial arts via Lua! much respect and thanks!

Lol! Uncle Sol almost knocked him out on 4:04. On 5:46 & 8:05, although he taps lightly with the weapon, you could tell it hurt the guy even though he says he was fine. Uncle Sol don't mess around when he does his demonstrations. Imagine if this was real speed action... Fatal for sure. Ancient Hawaiian Koa were brutal in their warfare & trained accordingly through Lua. This no holds barred mentality was to kill or maim the opponent as fast as possible and by any means necessary. DANGEROUS!

Classic Olohe’ natural humor! Doubters beware, you have to feel LUA like his training partner did. The techniques work because they are interchangeable. Olohe teaches fast and you probably do ten quick reps and do another tech. The body movements and mechanics are built in the dances and techniques. It’s like re-calibrating your mind and body to move a certain way to dislocate and break bones and ligaments.

With respect we don't all carry around a piece of rope or stick, but a lot of these guys are actually very good. Let's be honest most people who mug or charge you on the street are not experts with knives. Lots of these guys are strong, fast and also MAD!! let's be honest, a lot of them believe there B.Lee himself. But there's thousands around the world today that teach cops, even army , but you would never try let that knife go past you. If he's relaxed and talking shit two really fast straight punches and something a lot of people HARDLY ever talk about, is disengage, dont, ingage. Always the best weapon, if its there??

If you run, you will only die tired
@derekgreene23042 жыл бұрын
@@davefletch3063 you usually do die tired, better than dying tired than trying to fight a man with the need ( in the head) to stab you with a knife. I'm been honest, you don't know who he is?? Army trained with ptsd or an idiot. Best advice you can ever give anyone, Disengage/Dont Engage. Especially women being followed or stalked, that's what the fbi will tell m to do, couple a guys on the corner get smart, walk on even though you know in your head ild smash m easy. These demonstrations are good but this guys using rope, sticks and paddles ffs. One of the best ones to use is if someone gets in your face make a hard fist and really fast ram hi m on the chin ,one two over. They never ever work out the way these guys predict and its dangerous to tell people who aren't trained to do it.

@@derekgreene2304 most knife attacks are ambushes and it's too late to run or disengage. Your best defense in that case is attack, attack, attack. If you are given a choice by the attacker via him showing the knife prior to shoving it into your gut, then you are correct, disengage

So the ancient Solomon islanders wore karate-gi whenever they practice martial arts, which were probably no more than common grappling and striking... Sure Ok, I'll buy that for a dollar!
