Kenshin's scar is a part of his tragic backstory. If this anime gets more seasons after the Kyoto Disturbance arc, it will reach the Jinchū arc where his backstory is fully revealed. I would advise to wait for that arc as it is very good.

Seijuurou Hiko the strongest swordsman in Rurouni Kenshin. He can defeat Shishio with just one move and it would be boring so Kenshin should fight Shishio instead lol xD.

Been waiting for this, and happy to see Kenshin and Karou reunited…admittedly I feel it missed some depth to it if just a little with the OST. Other than that the last part of episode 40 to the first half of Episode 42 of the 96 anime have been covered in these episodes. In the series Seijuro Hiko is essentially the strongest in verse. Still it’s quite telling that Kenshin became one of the strongest swordsmen in the Bakumatsu as a teenager through an incomplete Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu alone. And that’s his name now, Seijuro Hiko XIII, the thirteenth grandmaster of the style. The name is a yagō, a traditional name passed down through a guild, studio, title, ect. In Japanese culture that is passed down from master to apprentice when they succeed in the craft or the master perishes. It is usually used in artists, craftsman, and actors especially Kabuki. If Kenshin had finished his training, he would have been Seijuro Hiko XIV. As for the original and the founder of the style the original Seijuro Hiko…well might as well say it unless they adopt the source into an anime episode like they seem to be doing with canon extra stories. The original Seijuro Hiko was a samurai and kendo instructor for the province of the Kitakata back during the Sengoku Jidai, confirmed the strongest user from the style, and appeared in Crescent Moon In The Warring States. A one shot published in 1992 as the series’s author first professional work before made canon into Rurouni Kenshin. To keep things brief incase it becomes animated, after the larger province of Nagumoks daimyou betrays a peace agreement and kills Kitakata’s ruling class, Kitakata’s last hope was Seijuro who allied with a farmer named Isshinta who he saved ended the war for the ones they wanted to protect the most. The story was added into Rurouni Knshin’s sixth volume and the original Seijuro’s sword Fuyutsuki was an heirloom of the style that is passed from master to apprentice or a replica of the original one, it has been 300 years after all. As for matters back in the present Aoshi’s desire to avenge his subordinates honor has utterly consumed him to the point of turning on his remaining subordinates for his desire to be the strongest, allying with Shishio to find and kill Kenshin. Also introduced is two more members of the Juppongata, Henya and Iwambo. Not much to reveal for Henya but as for Iwambo….he is exactly who he is on the surface. A big idiot who is only in the Juppongata for his strength and body. Still might have to wait on that glimpse of Kenshin’s training, the events of the next episode have already been hinted at heavily for another fight.

FYI, the manga author based the cape that Hiko wears on the cape worn by Spawn. Also, if you want to know how Kenshin got his scar, I highly recommend watching the OVA, Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal.

No. The scar origin has its own flashback that will happen later. It's a LONG flashback (three whole volumes) and is arguably the best part of the whole manga for a lot of fans. There is a ova adaptation of the whole flashback which changes things from the manga (it's shorter, darker and left out a lot of details, focusing on the feelings and emotional things). The ova is FANTASTIC but should be watched after the "real" one, so you're not confuse on what is canon or not.

In fact, according to the author's character commentary book, it says that he is ``the strongest of all the characters that appear,'' so Hiko has overwhelming strength. The reason is that he has the skills to use Hiten Mitsurugi's techniques perfectly, as well as the body that makes it possible. Since Kenshin confronted him and left the mountain, his physical strength has continued to decline, so the accuracy of his techniques continues to decrease with each passing year.

@ you can’t really spoil much of what happens in the Jinchuu arc with the OVA. Aside from one character it can be seen more as a prequel to Ruroni Kenshin than an explanation to why the Jinchuu arc happens.

@@lucianoarrieta5786 A big part of first section of Jinchuu Arc is making readers wonder what exactly did Kenshin do to piss these people off. The manga explicitly spent chapters on Kenshin in turmoil before gathering the courage to reveal his past , then told his friends that he killed Tomoe, which is a big shock that's supposed to keep readers engaged. Even midpoint through flashback Kenshin took a break mid-session and his friends speculate how it went. It's like saying learning Cloud's past by playing crisis core first isn't spoiling much since it is only about a minor character that had 5 min screentime in FF7.

You need to react to Rurouni Kenshin "Trust and Betrayal" after you finish these series. Its a must see best OVA ever created. It is the prequel to Rurouni Kenshin and it explains what happened to Kenshin in the past, how he met his master, why he never wanted to kill again, and how he got the cross shape scar on his face. U wont regret it. Literally you will ask yourself why tf havent i seen this before

Man, as interesting as it is this series still doesn't quite live up to the 90's anime adaptation. Everything about it just feels tame and less passionate. It's a shame cause I'd been waiting for a remake for the longest, seeing as they never animated the final arc. But, I'm glad it's gotten more exposure, and others get to experience the story.

They are trying to appeal to a younger generation and everything is so politically correct now, and they have completely thrown away the dark, more serious aura that original 1996 series had!! Also, the OST of the 1996 series is what made it, and thay cannot even begin to pay for the rights to that Ost. The new ost does not capture the tortured menacing vibe of kenshin, nor does it have a timeless feel. It is basically generic action movie music.
