Seiko King Turtle SRPE05 Review: "Grenade" Dial, Ceramic Bezel, & Sapphire Crystal On Silicone Strap

I have the black version with the steel bracelet. Bought from a store in London, UK, so the days are in either English or French unlike the American market version with English/Spanish, or the Japanese one in Kanji/English. Thinking of buying either the ISOfrane rubber strap for it or the classic waffle or original Tropic strap. Beautiful watches. No need for any aftermarket mods or messing about with from factory. Perfect as it is and definitely worthy of the King Turtle title. Really glad that Seiko decided to put both ceramic bezels and sapphire crystals on the King Turtle and the King Samurai. I hope they do the same with many of their other models because Im not too keen on watches without them. It's understandable not having them on older models but in this day and age there's no excuse for not having both. These watches are so comfortable too and I'm already considering getting the other variants of the King, like the blue shark one and manta rays. Thanks for the video.

Totally agree! The ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal make a huge different in the Turtle model. Couple it with the awesome grenade dial and I find this to be one of the best Seiko releases in the last couple of years. On the strap - I can recommend this OEM silicone one if you can find it, it truly surprised me how comfortable it was. Rafael

Hi, I've just seen one for sale in a department store in central London going for £275 reduced from £550. I'm so tempted to get it. I have an SKX007J and SNKL23J. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it for and do you think £275 is worth it?

@@ceezsees3471 Hey there! That actually sounds like a pretty good price. Are you sure it's the SRPE05? If so, I'd say go for it! If you want something to compare to, I'd recommend checking eBay and seeing how much it would cost to buy a new one online (full price shipped to you). On eBay is where you'll usually find the wholesalers selling the watches in new condition for the lowest price. Rafael

@@Bespokeunit Hey thanks for the reply yes its actually the SRPE03K1 as its the black dial version, the green dial I believe is the SRPE05K1 and then the blue wave dial is the SRPE07K1. Thanks for the tip on eBay, I did buy my SNKL23 on there new, but my only hesitation is if something were to go wrong with it the hassle with warranty etc. Sometimes paying a little more getting it in a physical store is worth the premium.

I have this watch, I put it on a Seiko OEM bracelet and it looks very refined indeed. I also sometimes wear it on a tan leather Nato. Beautiful watch. Would you be able to do a review of the Tortoise with the green dial? I have this also, and it's a stunning watch, I've seen it referred to as the Hulk. The green dial and bezel look black in certain light, but in day light, the sunburst green dial positively shimmers.

I have the same model with bracelet.not a fan of the bracelet as it takes away the rounded edges of the watch and makes the watch look oversized.i put mine on a rubber waffle black strap and now it's looking great on the wrist.also it is now half the weight as the bracelet is very heavy.my favourite watch in my collection.

I can see how the bracelet could make the weight of the watch a bit overwhelming. Honestly, I don't think I'd change the silicone strap on this Grenade for anything else - it really is *that* comfortable. Rafael

Color might not be coming across on the camera as they are in person, but this strap is definitely green (to match the dial). Check out the pictures in the written review where I believe it's more evident. Rafael

Dark Manta is lovely in different lights and the save the ocean is a nice vibtrant blue with nice different lume color to the other models The keeper and the buckle is a letdown comfort wise otherwise its a 10/10

Woah I hadn't seen that Dark Manta turtle - the dial looks amazing. Perhaps even better than this Grenade, though I'd certainly buy both if I could seeing as how the looks are so different. Rafael

I've ordered a blue Tropics strap for my Save the Ocean, can' wait to see what it looks like with it on. The dial is just incredible. I wasn't planning on buying one, but when I tried it on in the store, I was blown away
