I said that I didn't like it 6 months ago but just bought the SRPD25. Somehow, it grew on me and now I like the toned down design, cyclops, blue lume and new caseback design. I can wear this on a daily basis but not the earlier versions. They are just too garish 🤣

Fyi if you pull out the crown all the way out to set the time its ok to make the day and date change, just dont set the date at the first click, but its ok to change the time to make the date change. Good review like always.

Excellent review. Thought it looked very good on your wrist. Also thought the crown could be better cased. I liked the glass magnification insert.There was no mention of whether the watch has any sort of shock proofing, or not e.g.if i went Mountain bike riding.

Because despite the fact that chapter rings are out of way, ppl still buying those things. If ppl not pay for crap,seiko would be forced to fix the failire. Customers forgot use their most powerfull weapon /credit card-money/.

I personally think that the people who design the chapter rings do not communicate very well with the people who code the machines that produce them. All they have to do is add about 2mm more of material and everything will align. Of course, I could be totally wrong :p Thanks for watching!

@@minitwatch I love the case and the drilled lugs. But it has hardlex and that cheap clasp and a misaligned chapter ring. If the chapter ring was aligned properly and it had a sapphire crystal I would have no reservations about. It still looks great but Seiko cheaped out a bit more than they had to.

The original monster didn't have the sharktooth indices. I remember when people were all mad about that! haha! I think the normal indices are okay but yes, the sharktooth indices are ICONIC!

I think the older ones have better lume because green is easier for our eyes to pickup and it looks like the older ones have more lume surface area. But yeah, it’s not as bright.

That is true. Also, someone mentioned that the faux patina on this new watch dulls the lume a bit. That makes sense.

Hilarious, entertaining, well done and actually very helpful review. Thanks for pointing out some important details. In the big picture these details really aren't that much of a big deal, but for those of us who own and appreciate the older monsters, they can be bothersome and bring out some hidden OCD. Nevertheless, for the price point, it seems it's still an awesome watch that can keep up with a lot more expensive watches. Thanks for putting this video together -- subscribed! I like the newer handset better. I wish the bezel was dlc. I like the candy bar cyclops. Overall, the 4th gen is the most refined monster to date. I have a samurai and this might be next.

What up Curt! I totally agree with your comments, especially with the crown just jutting out there...not thought out well at all. It's also August so it's not a bad month to shave your head being in the dead middle of summer. As far as Stranger Things, season 3 was a real disappointment to me. @@minitwatch I love the gen2 Monsters and have 3 Orange Monsters (+ one more incoming), i.e. 2 SRP309 with Saphire and a mint one (with 3 different 2nd languages on the day wheel, hehe), SRP307, SRP313, SRP315, SRP455, Ice Baby, Baby Dracula and my wife has a Gen3 Jade. Nothing is as cool as an Orange Monster on an orange-black Nato, like in your dirt bike video!

I just bought one and the first thing I noticed and disliked was the lack of resistance moving the bezel. All my other dive watches require actual effort to move them. This one moves if it contacts my Levis at work. Not good. I consider this watch an ornament, I could never trust it diving.

It is a nice watch. I think it is overpriced. It’s still has Hardlex, the 4r36, and a stamped clasp. Much better watches for the price. Right now you can still get Turtles and Samurais for reasonable prices. A much better deal. You can also get a 2nd Gen Sumo for less then this, and that has the 6r15. I don’t like what they did with the crown. Have you checked eBay to see what 2nd Gen monsters are going for. They are going for a lot.

That new Monster is very cool looking! That said, I would never buy it due the pvd coating that will wear off making it us less junk. It also cost more than my SRP309J1 did, and has that famous misalignment on the chapter ring and probably other misalignments if you study it hard enough. Other than the misalignment and the crown, it does look awesome,at least for now! I like the new grove design on the bezel too! All in all I will just stick with my OM! Other than a Seiko 5 that amazing has has hardly no alignment issues, I am through with Seiko until they can build their watches correctly!!! I'm tired of of paying good money for Seikos with horrible quality control, making them just plain horrible quality!!!

So, I am with you for the most part. I have gotten a few Seiko's that have disappointed me however, my PADImas is just perfect. I absolutely love that watch and rightly so. It's amazing and there's nothing wrong with it. Perhaps I got lucky! It is afterall, a "higher caliber" Seiko. I have heard rumors of Seiko addressing their quality control in the near future. Let's hope that comes to fruition!

Other then the bracelet this watch is identical to my srpd27,or my srpd25..seiko throws a bracelet on instead of a rubber strap and gives it a different REFFERENCE number..

The third generation orange monster (the Nemo) is the pinnacle, the new version has been neutered of its personality, kind of a big shoulder shrug, now hits the masses where 90 percent of most watches fall. It may call to me but no longer screams......I will only go for a watch that screams....

Aye. I would love the 3rd gen! I have had watches that I wasn't quite interested in only to absolutely love them later on as well as the opposite effect. I find that "hit or miss" is quite common for me when I receive a watch.

Seiko quality has been going down :/ I think their success and popularity as of recent gave Seiko the incentive to cut quality a bit and up their prices. Not a fan of where the company is going. Love the review though

Still don’t like this new monster. It looks like a monster that has been toned down in order to not offend anyone. It’s lost all the character that the original monster had. The candy bar cyclops is hideous. It wears too big due to the longer lugs which also have fitted end links making the lug to lug length closer to 50mm. The old straight end link design made it wear really well on small wrists. The only improvements are maybe the bracelet which no longer has the stepped link meeting the clasp. The new caseback does look cool. I’ll be sticking with my 3rd generation SZSC003!

I do not not love it... I think it's a great watch.... I have made an executive decision that, since I am weak for the Samurais, I will buy all of those... but branching out into Monsters???... No. I feel like Seiko is trying to raise the bar on their price points.... and while people used to bag on Seiko for bracelets, and misaligned chapter rings... They were still GREAT value for money.... As they raise the price, the value is going to also have to rise. The little defects & oddities, we will not accept, at higher price points.... $500, $595, that stuff better be like, all put to rest.... My SUN Kinetic diver, had a fair number of issues when I got it. #1 it wouldn't charge, and the second hand did not tick on the markers, chapter ring misaligned, little stuff like that. So I sent it to Seiko. So of course they said no warranty, you didn't buy it at a dealer, blah blah. Okay fine. To fix everything, was $140 and shipping. Which is very very cheap, relative to Swiss service. You send a Rolex to Rolex USA, the estimate will be 4 digits.... I will say, however, that when I got it back, it WAS PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. Now, one could say okay, the watch, plus $140, plus shipping & insurance, gets me the perfect watch.... But as they raise the price, it becomes more important, for the watch to be perfect right out of the box.... The Great White Shark I just got, was perfect, right from the box.... But this one was not... So apparently they still have some work to do, in that department.... I also agree 100%, to have an ISO certified diver, with no crown guard at all, seems a little silly.....

Yes! At this price, it should absolutely be BETTER than it is. My Baby monster, at 175 dollars, is perfect. Same movement. What's up with that!? I'm not sure what to do with this watch. I might choose to just mod it or I'll use it for my adventure in September to see how well the black coating handles all the rigors of a 1,600 mile, all off road adventure :p. That is definitely going to make it unsellable but eh, it'll be good for the video! What say you? Should I do that?
