If someone gave me 4k and said you have to buy a Seiko, I would get a Grand Seiko on the used market. This maybe close but I love the spring drive and wish I could afford one.

Thanks so much for the video, Rob! Too expensive for me. I'm considering San Martin's 62MAS homage, just to to fill that void....for around $200

The best looking diver in my collection. Yes, hard to get even in secondary mart. My watchmaker friend just got one recently and has to pay more than the original price.

Sla017 is awesome, not many sub 40mm higher end divers out there from Seiko. Glad I got it but im yet to use the bracelet on it as heard of some reports where the end links are scratching up the case

The Seiko SLA017 is a watch which you can’t make a complaint a perfect and compact watch the only complaint is why it is a limited edition of 2,000 pieces when it is the best Seiko diver watch up to date

My favorite Seiko reissue! But, the bezel loses out to the SBEX007.

Interesting... So you’d have the gold inserted bezel of the SBEX 007 on the “not gilt edged” handset and indexes of the SLA017?

SLA017 is 20mm not 19- the new SJE is 19mm. The SLA is closer to 14.5mm the SJE is closer to 13.2. Even though they list it at 12.5mm. I like your voice though.

around 4k snd the clasp says made in China rather ger a Omega for that price.
@RandomRobReviews4 жыл бұрын
Fairly certain omega bracelets are made in China too.
@bnick253525354 жыл бұрын
@@RandomRobReviews i totally agree that some of Omega parts are for sure are made in China but Rob i think they could of made the writing on that Seiko way smaller saying where it was made at.I know for sure Omega rubber straps are majority made in China but Bracelet not sure of.
@cy46243 жыл бұрын
Omega besides the original speed master is nothing special, its average at best. Omega doesn't come remotely close to Seiko as a true manufacturer. Nor does Omega come remotely close in terms of fit and finish as comparably priced G.S. Omega shouldn't be even be compared to a G.S. in the same sentence. Only push for Omega is more common folks may recognize the brand as "higher end" while reality is different.
@randynovick79724 жыл бұрын
I just can't justify that kind of spend for a seiko. Sure, it's nice, but I can get a Rolex 16013 for that kind of money, and I'd wear it a lot more than one more diver to add to the dozen others I have. To each their own, I guess.
@gmshadowtraders4 жыл бұрын
They made only 2000 of them bud. Rolex is in the millions. Having said that, Rolex is cool, stick to it if you prefer.
@randynovick79724 жыл бұрын
@@gmshadowtraders No argument about the rarity, but with seiko you know that it's completely contrived to create exclusivity. They could produce and sell 100K pieces in a heartbeat, for a cool $1000 each and they'd sell every one and make so much more money. (Hell, at $1000, I'd probably buy one!) These are, in essence, re-issues of the original. The original is special. The original has the real value. The re-issue does not have that same core value proposition. It's desirable for style and workmanship, yes, and that's why it would sell without the faux exclusivity. It can be it's own thing, and be desirable for its own reasons without being priced like a Rolex or Omega.
@cy46243 жыл бұрын
@@randynovick7972 couldnt disagree with you more. I own multiple Rolex as well as others of higher pedigree. Rolex is solid with timeless style but. I am not blinded by Rolex brand cache to make delusional inaccurate statements. Rolex churns out over 3000 units per day(definition of mass produced, minimal handwork) compared to roughly 35-40k/year for G.S. Seiko requires lot more hand work to finish the cases/decorated movements/dials levels above. Seiko have produced column wheel chronographs 40 years before Rolex could come up with one as well as minute repeaters, tourbillons, SD far far beyond the scope of Rolex, who was only technically In-house until they purchased Aeglar, who made their movements. The micro artist studio Seikos leave VC/AP/PP In the dust and are near Dufour level crafted by artisans trained by the master himself and Rolex doesnt even belong in the conversation. If anything it's Rolex that should be selling at fractions due to bare minimal handwork/mass production but that wouldn't low for their humongous marketing/promotion/sponsoring/trademarking cost, which is by far the biggest component of the cost. By your own logic, the submariner should sell for $300 -400 since they churn out a whole lot more with less work Involved. As far as Omega, all I can do is laugh at your comment.
