I went to test drive an electric scooter today, and when I got there, they said the one I booked was gone. So I did this whole Seinfeld reservation bit. They did not find it amusing, but at least I felt better.

Ive done this a few times at a car rental to the point where I just say , " so you took the reservation, you just didnt hold it". They ALL have seen this episode, smile, and KNOW this verbatim. Its not their fault, its the system, and I take it easy on them now.

Honestly this is true of most clips in Seinfeld. That's probably why its the most well written Sitcom in my opinion. The phenomeal actors, the elaborate side stories that always culminate into a larger ending and theme of each episode. The memorable catchphrases and characters. George and Kramer specifically being probably hands down the funniest sitcom characters to ever exist. I don't think there will be a sitcom which is likely to ever trump this show nor match its sophisticated comedy.

I had a similar incident with Sears Roebuck. I was moving across the country. I ordered a new mattress that was supposed to be delivered a day after I arrived. The Sears customer server rep said it was "in stock". It wasn't delivered on time. I called. They told me that there was a delay at the factory, so Sears didn't have it. That is not "in stock"!

Even restaurants do this. My wife and I went to go eat at a restaurant where we made a reservation a week in advance for. We walked in, and the host found our reservation, and said that they will seat us as soon as possible. After waiting for almost an hour, I went to the desk and asked the host if we will be seated anytime soon. They said that they didn't have an tables available at the moment, and that there were still multiple parties in front of us waiting to be seated. This exact scene popped in my head. If they knew what a reservation was, I would be sitting at a table right now.

On a trip to the U.S I had booked a Toyota Camry rental car. But when we arrived that car was unavailable. But Hertz had compensations up their sleeve; I was provided a brand new Ford Mustang to use for the week. That was 10 years ago. At the time I had gotten hold of a Hertz rebate code at work, really intended for use by upper mgmt so maybe that helped.

A res is determined by if the previous renter returns on time, and if said car doesnt require maintenance thus throwing shit out of whack. Then there is the shortage of vehicles.. it's a whole mess.

Then they should be making adjustments to their standards for taking reservations. No reserving a car the same day it's supposed to come back or the next day. Give one day for late return, one day for cleaning/maintenance. Plus they should hold back at least one car if they have any pending reservations. Otherwise it's gotta be first come first served
