Jbird he’s funny because he’s so unfunny. I don’t really laugh at any of his stand up but it does speak to real life situations. So it makes me chuckle when I remember the bit not when he’s actually doing the standup.

Jerry's intro about the finger. "Am I supposed to be offended when someone shows me a finger?" That is literally the origin of why it's offensive, during very old wartime captured enemies would have some of their fingers removed so they could no longer properly wield weapons or use bows. Showing of the fingers was an insult to those who had them removed.

I'm pretty that's the V sign. When longbowmen were taken as prisoners, their middle and index fingers would be cut off, so that they couldn't shoot a longbow again. So showing the V at the enemy was kind of saying "Come get 'em!" to the enemy. So goes the story, anyway.
