For anyone who happens to be coming to this game after this even though it’s been out awhile, you don’t have to get out of the water or even leave the area you saw the carp. You can sit right by where you saw it and it will respawn. Makes it a lot easier.

was going to mention this but see you covered it... the respawn rate isn't too long so for any carp I didn't skewer on my first attempt I just waited a bit... side note: yeah, I'm SUPER late to the game but this is a game people will pick up and play for years to come; at least imo. When Sekiro released I started to play it but for whatever reasons I put it on the backburner. I know one reason was because we didn't know the extent of how Dragon Rot impacted the game so I was afraid it may have something like Demon's Souls Light and Dark world tendencies. Anyway, after getting the platinum in Elden Ring I figured now was as good a time as any to go ahead and wrap this one up. I'm hoping that after a second play to get this platinum I finally play Demon's Souls remake. Though there's no shortage of other games I need to play as well along with new games releasing monthly lol. At least with Demon's Souls I already played the Hong Kong and US versions of the original.

You can also hide in the foliage nearby them, they won't spot you before it's too late that way.

The Great carp ends up there because the sunken valley is at the bottom of the waterfall that leads to the fountainhead palace, which is also why you also get the palace lotus there because its the same water, and also why the Guardian ape is immortal

Was just about to say this. Not sure if hiding in the grass is required (pretty sure I had them respawn without it), but it certainly saves a ton of time and effort, since you can basically kill them right away without them seeing you.

The lump of red wax, the magnetite scrap and a light coin purse are on the other side of the lake. If you can't find it, just swim to the surface, look for the sakura branch near rest idol, and then head underwater (not diving too deep) towards the opposite direction of where the Headless was.

*The carp washed up there after feeding it.. *Then the tall dude said to feed it in moderation.. *After feeding it very healthy bait and thus overfeeding it.. Koi tends to jump when u overfeed them due to excess ammonia in ponds.. The koi jumped..landed on the apes lair. Since the waters directly flows there maybe its underneath it.

The reason the Pot nobles dont become a different carp or anything after buying their shit is explained inlore cuz they end up having red eyes. Red eyes carp have uneven # of scales and can never become a giant carp like the master carp.

Anyone having a rough time chasing down the treasure carp most of them hang out near tall seaweed/lillypad like plant life in which it acts like Tall Grass you can hide in it and they'll never see you until they get real close ...now for the big crater area where you fought the Headless do exactly as Cowboy said stay underneath them and Come From Below cuz there's no seaweed/lillypads to hide in also if by chance they get away heading right back into the seaweed/lillypad literally makes them respawn like in seconds lol works a lot better too cuz you don't have to leave the area and try swim fast enough to catch em you can just stay right there and wait for him to come close again

If you are having trouble with the carp in the shallow areas like Cowboy did, just hide in the moss/Lilly’s. It acts as grass out of water and they can’t see you when you’re in it. Let them get close or follow when they turn around

The invisibility candy helps a ton in trying to get the carps. You have to use it on land since you can't use them while swimming, but they last long enough that you should be able to get all the treasure carps with two of them. And if you have the reusable one from Headless, it only cost you a few emblems.

FYI for anyone trying to get the treasured carps, hide in the nearby weeds and they will reappear very quickly and usually swim right up to you. It's super easy, no need to waste sugar. Works for the carp at Hirata Estate as well.

After u give the carp the special bait and u get the whiskers, if u rest u can get extra dialogue wit one of the sisters with their father. Also after that if u go back to the room where at the top where all the flute guys are in that dark room u can see another sister stabing one of the dead flute guys saying they lied to them and she wants her father back. Pretty cool.

If you fed Great Carp with Truely bait first before you actually got scales from the father who served, just go back there after giving whiskers. You'll find the 3 carps near his body.

Fun fact, old lady does not die. I tried to see if I could prevent this by not opening the door and completing the quest (she still appears to die) but if you reload next to her father they are together and you get some extra dialogue.

the treasure carps spawn incredibly fast. You don't have to run away to make them respawn. Just see where they spawn, and once they see you and run away, go up to where they spawn and like 10 seconds later they respawn, and you just hit them when they appear.

If nobody's already commented on it, there is an unmentioned sister to the old woman who asks for the gates to be unlocked. After giving the White Whiskers to the father, if you return to the area, there is the old woman's sister with some more dialog.

Regarding the fountainhead lady and her father: If you proceed with the carp quest as usual but don't open the door for her, she'll reunite with him at the feeding grounds and there is some unique dialogue. No item drop though. I think it's a much better ending.

@@theregime91 I think OP meant it in real life. It looks odd, even in game. There's no way you can twist your body that way. He jumps with his back to the roof and ends up facing it. Doing a backflip lands you with your back to the roof, not with the face.

If you chill in the reeds, the treasure carp will respawn shortly after, and can't see you. It's 100x faster/easier than swimming in circles/jumping in/out of the water.

@FightinCowboy You can also hide in bushes nearby and wait for the fishes to swim by. They have set patrol routes, and all of them go right into or past reeds you can hide in. You gotta wait - but it beats trying to reset the area.

can't believe I forgot one lapis lazuli was from the Carp quest. Especially since I've absolutely tore through NG+ in only a few nights. Anyway I came home tonight after visiting a friend for a couple hours thinking all I needed to do was get across the bridge to the pot noble and then fight the Shishi warrior for my last 4 lapis lazuli to get the Platinum trophy.... regardless, the PLATINUM is mine now Bwahahahahahahaha!!!!! just took a few more minutes than I anticipated lol. Though I'm sad to be done w/ Sekiro I'm super happy I finally dug it out of the backlog. Now the conundrum of what to play next as nothing is really catching my attention or desire. Already got the Platinum in Elden Ring, though, I still haven't played Demon's Souls remake so perhaps I'll tackle that. It's probably been 7 years since I last re-played the original. I've probably commented on this before but thanks for the GREAT GUIDE Cowboy!! Keep up the great work broski!!!!! I have the strategy guide but your walkthrough was phenomenal & definitely more helpful from a playthrough perspective. So that's what the carp whisker is for. After killing the carp I just went back and killed the dude. He fights like a chained ogre and once you kill him he gives like 1500 xp and a bunch of treasure scales.

The Fountainhead Pot Noble was very polite to me after I purchased an item from him, and didn’t talk the way the seemingly crazier one in Hirata, so I believe the Hirata one more completely fits the Gollum type instead of the Fountainhead one. Also, the carp ends up where you found the flower because it’s where the Fountainhead waters flow to in the deepest part of Ashina.

If you go back after speaking to the father after the great carp dies, his other daugher from the begining of FHP appears and she dies alongside with him, so sad. One got revenge and the other got peace.

Each carp has spawn spot. It is same place you have seen it first time. Camp there for a minute and it appears. Why he thinks it is necessary to jump out of water I have no idea.
