Goran Kajfeš Subtropic Arkestra. Some witty music-journalist once quipped that had Nasa put John Coltrane’s Love Supreme on the Golden disc of the Voyager satellite, any benevolent lifeform in outer space would have landed here already. One could add: if we sent the recordings of the Subtropic Arkestra into outer space, they would be likely to head to Sweden and see it as the center of the Earth. With musicians hailing from all over Sweden - Kajfeš himself son of Croatian jazz-pianist - they militantly stuck to a policy of incorporating music from all corners of the world into their repertoire and the Selam Sessions’ gig is no exception. Welcome to the world
Selam Sessions is our long overdue project to showcase the whole range of music and styles that Selam represents to the world. We’ve finally organized a series of recordings highlighting the output of the artists we love most and presenting work of the highest order to music lovers globally.
