Setups like this would interest me because I'm mostly single-handed, or short-handed, but the previous comments are spot on. Why a pro crew is presenting this setup, and how about shown in less favorable conditions? This is similar to the Code-D furling spinnaker, and presented almost the same way; perfect weather, although by a couple on a 50+ feet monohaul.

Build rocket, put rocket on launch pad, launch rocket, enjoy cocktails in orbit...... I don't mean to suggest that you're oversimplifying the process, but would it be possible to show more than a split second shot of closing a shackle or two?

Had one 5 or 6 years ago. The sail always backwrapped and my tension was ridiculous. Traded for a sock. If you could guarantee operation like a fixed furler, it would be great for us older single handers.

I've had it for 4 years. You just have to make sure when you let it out slowly until about 1/3 the bottom is clear. Then you let it out, if it doesn't come out clean - pull in back in and do it again. Once we figure this out - we haven't a problem with it.

Why is it a crew of 5 or so 40-50 year old guys in head to toe matching foulies need this furling set-up for a spinnaker? This seems like a good setup for a cruising couple or short hand crew, the video for this product should show a short hand crew using this setup, not a professional crew that could handle a traditional spinnaker setup.

My wife and I, both in our 50’s just got one set up with a code zero, really easy to get to grips with in just one day. We look forward to flying a sail in light airs now, without the worry of dowsing a gennaker whenit gets too much whilst clambering about on the bow like an intoxicated orangutan. I nearly went overboard last September after broaching mid English Channel whilst trying to recover our chute with a snuffer sock, Hanse the investment.

I bought a boat with one of these on it. Getting the kite out is no problem. Rolling it back in is. While I can usually get it in, the tension on the top half of the roll is poor, leaving the spinnaker flagging. Could be I’m using it wrong….anyone here know? Setup is exactly what I would do for a furling jib. At least that’s what I’m doing.

I just set one up on my Hanse 385 with a code zero, woks a dream, but as a shorthand cruising couple it will be back in the locker if the wind gets above 15kts.

Polyorudo I can collect easily a spi in 8-10 knots, but as it goes you have an exhilarating run in 13-15 kts it pipes up to 18 and by the time you decide to take it down and prepare it's over 20 and then's the time you need help. I'd rather have a snuffer.

Yeah. Done hundreds of races on lakes and sea, but I'm close to 70 and out. It was great to regularly plane 10-12 up to 16 kts on 31-35 racing footers. However still pushing cruising boats (foolish or not), which got me into several 40-44 kts meltemi last season and nasty short steep waves , made me rethink... if I only had two young crew ..
