Great video Matt! I've enjoyed many camping and paddling trips out there. Depending on the time of year, the boat traffic can add to the challenging tide changes near the southern tip of the island. Guaranteed solitude on those hiking trails though.

We went camping at Hogback this past Friday. We launched at the boat launch next to the car ferry by Gilette Castle. We then rowed about a mile or so and we saw the sand area of what we thought was Hogback (reserve America had a general layout of where was what site). We couldn't find any pathways to any trails. We only had access to the beach/ sand area and a fire pit. How/ where do we go to access the trails and the hogback sign where the pit toilet is next time we go camping?

Sounds like you landed at the north point of the island which is really just a day trip beach area, it does have access to the trails through the overgrowth at either end of the beach. Hogback Camp is about another 1/4 mile farther down the coast, but doesn't have access to the trails. A bit farther Spring Ledge Camp and Quarry Knob Camp both have access to the trails. Where did you launch from?

The boat launch next to the ferry below Gillette Castle. It's about a mile paddle down to the island. You can check my site for a map of the nearby launches: explorect.org/selden-neck/
