Something else worth mentioning: The size is T4 Torx. I didn't have a kit, so I needed to find the T4s. Problem is, most tool kits don't come with 2 of any one size. I ended up going to Ace Hardware and getting 2 x T4 Torx bits. They were about $2 each. They're just the bits, but they were good enough since the screws aren't that tight.

Thank you so much Scott. I have spent all day trying to get the screw off. I kept saying "why did they send two of the same size and neither will get it to work" .. I even ordered the same color (with a white case to go over the watch part to make it less manly). But you sir have saved the day. This is NOT the kind of video that someone watches for fun but I want you to know it was not in vein because I was so upset and about to send my band back because I couldn't figure it out and I had gave up on videos on MY watch. YOU SAVED THE DAY.

When my strap holder broke, I replaced it with a black elastic pony tail holder. Works wonders!

Thanks for the great video. Looks like a very easy fix. I have the same watch but my problem is not necessarily with the band replacement. It is with one of the holes the bar goes through. At 3:01 of your video you can see the two holes the bar goes through. Well, yesterday I noticed that one side of my band was hanging off. Apparently, one of the aforementioned holes broke. About half of the round hole is missing. Any idea how I may be able to fix it…besides Garmin? Looks like they want $120 for that. This is also my second Gamin sports watch and probably my last. Thanks.

Holes? In the strap? Or on the watch it self?

It's one of the two holes on the watch itself. As in 3:01, the bar would go through the hole then the strap and then through the other hole. So in my case, it is one of the holes on the watch that is broken.

@@texman1166 that sucks. Mine has been bomb proof since day 1. I'm not gentle with my gear eather. New ones are $120 now.

Why don't you swap the buckle to keep the original Garmin buckle? Just ordered a replacement cos my strap holder broke as well. Pity you can't just buy the strap holder as this can be easily inserted by removing the buckle..

Actually the p;in mechanism for hold the strap in place. Old watches had a better design and I'm sure they had other choices than what they picked. Too awkward to deal with both ends of the pin with two screwdrivers.
