a good professional demonstration (no face showing, no talking), excellent sound quality and playing: 5/5. Every demonstrator should follow this example.

I don't agree at all. Where are the patch names? And a short description (by text or by speaking) what's going on and an assessment (strength, weakness) with other gear should also be done.

Needs a more professional quality keyboard stand though lol

I couldn’t disagree more. For these types of videos it’s fine but I would hate if every demonstrator did this. We would have no reviews, no thoughts on the product, no patch creation examples, no thorough pros and cons, no dissecting of the synth engines and parameters, the list goes on.

IMHO the Blofeld is a totally underrated synthesizer. Lots of sound possibilities, extensive modulation matrix, ok effects. Only weak point is the filter which has a tendency to saturate quite quickly.

what do you guys think of this against a monster like UVI Falcon?
@chrisstrobel34397 жыл бұрын
carbonealpha Well I just got mine a few days ago 3/31/2017. I have all the UVI stuff, as well as all the major VST Soft Synths from past to present, and have been both a working and now retired hobbyist piano/organ/synth player for 40 years (prog rock and smooth jazz) owning all the important hardware synths along the way. The Blofeld is just different than VST's. Its a very solid built box with solid as a rock knobs that move smoothly like an old Marantz receiver. The LCD screen is easy to read, but in person is much more washed out looking than in all the web pics (Waldorf MUST be photoshopping in LCD pictures on their site to make it look that contrasty) The presets that come with it aren't that great, some ARE very beautiful, but others a distorted mess. Its vids like this where guys are using third party patches that made me take the plunge and get one 8 years after these first hit store shelves. This past year I've bought a Minimoog Voyager, three Moog Mothers 32's, Moog Minitaur, Waldorf Streichfett, Korg MS-20 mini, Korg Arp Omni module, Korg Minilogue, and now this Blofeld, and the Blofeld has been the most intriguing of the bunch so far (bugs and all) 👍

ebeep you just have to work at it. The wavetables on the Blofeld are the best that exist. It contains the same wavetables that the old PPG, Wave, and Microwave contain. You have to scan through very slowly, as each wave is HUGE.

Stoned Rider Records this is a classic complaint about the Blofeld. For some reason the default velocity setting is quite sensitive. Turn it back a good bit, and add some extra juice with the distortion settings at the filter or globally and it is plenty loud. Also, you can change the velocity curve from exponential to linear which helps.
