Selecting sheep for our dinner table! We will be harvesting and processing our own sheep to feed our family due to no openings in the abattoir. We had a great crop of grassfinished sheep to pick from this year. For how to raise your own sheep, check out my book Comeback Farms on our website: greenpasturesfarm.net. Watch for video to follow on our processing day with our sheep.

Thanks for all the information. Never miss a video. This was the first time I saw handling facilities. Can you do a video on your set up? Also, do you have any for cattle? I remember a video where you walked behind a bull with poly braid and walked him right into a trailer. I figured that was the extent of your facilities. Thank you.

The sheeps have a calming effect on the rascals… 😇 Those rascals were ready for a little nap 😴 Meanwhile, the bigger dogs were hustling to take the lead & make sure that there’s NO coyotes around.

Have you ever considered keeping whether's to butcher in June for summer lamb? They taste even better that way and make use of extra spring pasture. Perhaps would need slightly less ewes to make it work.

As a retired sheep farmer I can tell you that during my time rearing lamb, we did not get a fair price. I am glad to say farmers are currently getting a worthwhile price, so that then reflects on consumer prices. It is still cheap in terms of the cost of living.

One thing I'm curious about Greg that you haven't ever mentioned that I am aware of is ? Do you have any problems with Your Guardian dogs getting fleas or ticks from the land? And if so how do you treat them for it to prevent infestations?

What do you think about anti-mating aprons? I haven’t heard you mention how you use them, Greg.

We don't use anti-mating aprons. We remove the rams from our ewe flock from July 7th to November 30th. This prevents winter lambing.

Since lack of shelter is Felony animal abuse (pets, dogs, cats,...) I am assuming that you have shelters out there that they don't use. PS, my sheep use the goat shelters when it rains in the winter.
