I use a large wooden tray, that I bought years ago. I put a beading mat in and a clip-on usb lamp on the side for extra light. Works like a charm in my case.

I have a head on it board that I use at home, but I like to hear at lunch at my desk when I am at work. I then use my Kitxchange travel bead board. It's $60 on Amazon and we'll worth it! I typically still use a head mat on it because the surface is loose on the head mat for the kitxchange. It has many pockets to take your project anywhere and I use it A LOT! I recommend this bead on it board of your traveling. It is not small and has a surface a little bigger than the size of a standard 8x11 piece of paper. My other bead boar d I use at home on a table with an Ottlite. I do all sorts of beading and wire working so these surfaces work best for me. I never thought about creating a small surface with a picture frame! GREAT IDEA ALLIE!! Loved this episode!

I like the Bead on it Board for beadweaving. The beads do like to roll so they get stopped by the bumper. Bumper handy for sticking needle in while taking break. Also if bad bead or culling beads , I push bead into bumper snugging it so as to remove from other good beads; and remove or take care of it later. The Bead on it boards are the best for stacking and not disturbing work. I do not however wirework on the Bead on It Board because if laying heavy objects like wire working tools can leave permanent impression on surface. Bead on it mats are great too, inexpensive, and good when beginning. I purchase low profile trays, trays with a small lip and place bead mat inside. Can cut to size if necessary. This is great for wire working having larger area for tools and still catching rolling beads and keeping them secure. Deeper trays can be used for looming or macrame. Also macrame boards great for that. If beading on lap away from work table, I have small little basket with thread, beads and bead tubes using, and tools necessary close by. Everyone may have different preferences but super video to introduce and review options. Been wanting to try a sticky mat for designing and of course another Bead on it Board (I don’t have 8 yet).

I’ve always wanted a beadonit board. Watching you today I had a great idea. Buy an 11x14 picture frame and put my velux above the glass and voila. I’m going to try it.

Thank you, As I have been beading for years, I have a variety. Haven't tried the sticky board. Sounds very interesting.

I use the sticky mat for larger beads 6mm and up. I tried it with seed beads but most of the bead is stuck to the mat making it very difficult to pick up with your needle. With a larger bead, only a small area is stuck to the mat so it will come away quite easily.

Longtime beader, and I love, love, love my Bead on it Boards for all of my beading. I have 2 small, one medium and one small round and want to get the largest size. No matter what I'm doing, I always go back to a Bead on it Board. Bead mats slip around on my table which is annoying, and I only use a flocked board to lay out a necklace or maka and then go back to a BOIB for knotting, same for wire wrapping (I don't leave my tools on the Board), and bead weaving. Sometimes I will use a bead mat under my BOIB when I'm working w crystals so if I drop it, it's protected. Thank you, Alley! You make me a better beader. 🙋♀️💛🪡🧵

I have a flocked travel beading board. It came with a lid so if I'm in the middle of something and have to walk away I can cover the board with the lid and all is safe and sound. I have three beading mats but I don't use them. I tried when I first got them but my beads, especially the seed beads moved and rolled around too much, I found myself spending more time trying to stop them then actually beading.

I like using the mini flocked beadboard by Beadsmith though I did purchase the 6"x6" Bead on it Board. When I first started weaving I used the Vellux mat but it frustrated me because the needle would catch then my beads would go flying everywhere😢

Try to come at the beads from the side rather than point down. 😜👍

I love my bead on it board, I have round and rectangular in a couple different sizes, I mostly do seed beading, some stringing, and the projects I get in my best bead Xl box. I tried doing wire work but found it too hard on my hands

What would you recommend for someone who has a BIG kitten that gets into everything? LOL (I have done a little bit of weaving and stringing)
