You're a good teacher, sir. Some people who are very talented couldn't teach their way out of a paper bag. I'm a newb and I found this tremendously helpful, so thank you.

Excellent tutorial Robin (I always say that, but it’s true). I learned a lot as I’ve been working on old family portraits and adding a slight Gaussian blur to the background. This will definitely make selections easier, and saving the selections was totally new to me.

I've used Affinity Photo for over a year and have only scratched the surface on what it can do. Most of your tutorials have shown me things I didn't know the program could do! Photoshop, who?

When you make a selection, how do you enter it to make adjustments such as Transform?
@RobinWhalley Жыл бұрын
If you create a selection and then click the Move Tool, you can then use it to transform the selection as I demonstrate in this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n52rpaR-mM53mdU). The alternative is to convert the selection iunto a mask attached to an adjustment layer. This happens automatically when you have an active selection and then add an adjustment layer.

I just want to invert the mask with a button I can not find. It use to be easy in photoshop. Am i missing something. Sometimes its easier to select the thing you dont want.
@RobinWhalley5 ай бұрын
There isn't a button to invert the mask like Photoshop. You need to use either a keyboard shortcut (Cmd + I on a Mac or Ctrl + I on a PC) or use the Layer menu and select Invert with the mask selected in the Layers Panel.

You forgot to mention the de-select icon located on the top toolbar.
@RobinWhalley2 жыл бұрын
Yes it's a very valid option but I chose not to mention it. As someone else said I missed the ESC key to remove it. This is a beginner's course. If I cover all the ways to remove a selection people become confused. I'm trying to keep things basic and easy to remember.

am i the only person that knows you can hit ESC to deselect?
@RobinWhalley2 жыл бұрын
No you're not the only person but this is a beginners course. If I mention four ways to cancel a selection people remeber nothing.
