Wait this isn't specifically related to reading comprehension but I saw a website about the vic selective schools and they said you need to score at least a 90% to be offered a place at a selective school even if you got 100% in maths and 70% in verbal, you still wouldn't be offered a place. wth? Is that true, because if so I'm throwing in the towel. I did a mock exam which was at similar difficulty to the actual test with a few hundred other students to get into an ICP course and got 60.8% and was better than 70% of the other students yet you need to get well over 90% in each test to be offered a place. ????????????

I seriously doubt that's true since the test isn't based on what score you get but how well you did compared to everyone else. If you got 70 - 80% in each test but almost everyone else got 50-60%, then you still might get a spot since you would have done better than most people. The scores (abv average, superior, etc.) are also based on how good you did compared to the others, and are more of a ranking instead of a test score, if that makes sense.

I'm pretty sure spots aren't given based on how many superiors you got, like there's no specific amount you need to get, it's mostly how much you score compared to the other people taking the test, as well as how much you did against people taking the test from your school.

I saw that exact same website and Ik what you’re talking about. They’re literally advertising a tuition place and getting more customers by scaring people into thinking the test is very hard.

Are you sure you should read the whole narrative text, isn’t that a lot of time wasted, narrative texts can be quite large in size.
