Interesting point about the Irish famine, even after 150 years, our population still hasn't recovered to what it was before. Source : I am irish

They're talking about Eritrea now and I'm myself wondering if they get to the Irish FamineS and BLIGHTS that were largely man made. Took an Irish Experience seminar in undergrad 20yrs ago at UMass taught by a LEGIT Irish woman from County Tyrone. Got an A on my final exam for saying The British got the ball rolling, but the Irish THEMSELVES kept it going! The Fable of The Greaaaaaaat Irish Famine is a best seller here in the US! Famine Irish and Irish AREN'T the same.... they don't tell us that....

Botswana is not next door to Ethiopia - it's not even in the same region of Africa. They do have an inhospitable climate, but thrive nonetheless due to democracy and excellent management of resources (along with their neighbor Namibia).

"thrive" is definitely a word, however, not exactly how i would describe Botswana
