This is beyond stupid. If an American wishes to live in another country they have to go through proper procedures to become a citizen. A lawyer could do very little for the situation. There are legal processes for immigration for a reason. Would I be able to pack up and go to Mexico, stay in their country, on their land, pay sales tax only, all without following their laws set in place to enter their country legally? I’d be sent back home just as fast. Her money would be better spent by finding them somewhere to go in their own country, and charitable fundraising to support that mission.

It’s apparent you’ve never looked into why this problem exists. Either that, or you are extremely self centered and don’t care about other human beings. If a homeless child steals a loaf of bread from you, what would you do? Send him to juvenile detention or call social services and get him real help? These are good, working, people who risked everything to escape horrors. The process to become a citizen is far too expensive and long. How do poor people in horrible situations earn $20,000 per person in their family to become a citizen? And then wait 5-10 more years if they can save up the funds. We spend all this money hunting them down and sending them back and then finding families to adopt their children and pets. Instead we could help them become citizens quickly. They already pay taxes but don’t have rights and live in fear.
