Selena Gomez is getting slammed for possibly lip syncing her first live performance of “Wolves,” but it turns out that rumor may NOT be true.
Selena Gomez’s performance of “Wolves” at the 2017 American Music Awards was a huge deal, but it was tainted with the possibility that she was lip syncing.
Everyone was waiting with bated breath for Selena Gomez to take the AMAs stage for the first time since her life-saving kidney transplant to perform her new single with Marshmello “Wolves.” When the moment finally happened, fans were obviously super excited, but that quickly turned to confusion when they realized the audio sounded a bit too perfect to be a live performance. Let’s take a listen.
Sources close to Selena tell TMZ, however, that she was NOT lip-syncing during the performance...for the most part, at least. The insider explained that Selly used a backing track during the song’s chorus only, which is something many musicians do during television performances, because she wanted it to be as perfect as possible. This means that what we heard during the verses was 100 percent raw vocals from Miss Gomez herself.
You may have noticed that Selena didn’t do much dancing during the gig, but rather focused on moving around between the actual dancers. This was, according to the source, a conscious decision on her part so that she could sing live. As you probably could imagine, it’s way harder to sing when you’re dancing at the same time. TMZ did note, however, that the audio could’ve been messed up so viewers heard something different as they were watching television than what was happening in the arena.
We did see the former Disney Channel star rehearsing in the days leading up to the show, which makes sense if she did really sing. So, the answer to if Selena Gomez was singing live at the AMAs is yes, but also no. Very confusing, we know. The woman is living with a donated kidney for god’s sake, people don’t realize how many meds and treatments you have to take for lupus, let alone the extra not to reject an organ. After such a big surgery you should applaud her for going live after such a life-changing event, I’m personally not a Selena fan, but I have a lot of respect for her not letting her illness get in the way of what she wants to do. Sofia Firmino When you receive an organ you have to take immunosuppressants and sometimes chemo to keep your immune system from rejecting it. These medications make you extremely sick, on top of lupus. Extreme nausea, vomiting, chronic joint pain from the lupus, plus the surgical site takes months to fully heal. I’m shocked she is even standing up on the stage for that long and is even able to remotely sing. Having had major abdominal surgery (not organ transplant though), I learned it can take months to even stop feeling the pain. And she looks amazing for being so sick (when lupus progresses to organ damage it is late stage, most people that have it become house-ridden)

The lady (AmaneeChaan) does know what she is taking about. I am in the medical field and the anti-rejection meds are enough to aggravate the lupus and produce a lot of debilitating fatigue. Those meds suppress the whole immune system and secondary diseases are a huge risk.It's naive to think that MAYBE ONLY her vocals would be affected. That is probably the only thing not affected by the unnatural fatigue. Hoping you can physical get thru it brings on the anxiety. It would have taken all she had to hit a high note. Perhaps she tried to come back too early. If I was her and financially settled I'd retire for several years. That is major surgery. Probably may take her at least a year to even begin to recover.People should NEVER judge others with an "Invisible disease". Someday you will find out when you get a disease you have to adjust to. Remember this when it happens. It will happen to you. You can't age with no "negative side affects" when you body begins to change.

There was a point that i watched over again and when the song had her singing, her lips were not moving. And when she pulled the mike away from her mouth at one point u could tell it was another point of lipsyncing bc she moved the mike and it was just as loud as the previous line. If she was live and pulled the mike away, it wouldnt have been as loud. I ask this though, why was ashlee simpsons career destroyed in one lipsyncing moment when plenty of others have been caught and have had their careers still flourish?

Yeah I think she was singing with the backing track but her voice is really small. She doesn't have a huge voice like ariana or anything but you can kinda hear her voice during the chorus but it us super small. She was saying the words but was relying on the backing track the most which is why it looked and sounded like she was lip syncing. Cause she also had zero energy in her performance so it didn't even really look like she was singing at all just standing there mouthing the words
