I knew a person like this as well. So manipulative and it was so frustrating to watch everyone fall for it all the time until she played them. Worst part is that people like that can clock you from a mile away. They can sense that you see through their bullshit and then they zero in on you to keep you quiet. To keep the play going. She would try to befriend me and then turn my real friends on me, break up my relationship and just take control. It was horrific experience. I was genuinely scared of her at time and then I cut her off completely and everyone from a friend group that associated with her. Those people are dangerous. I think here the problem is how is this is all being broadcast in public. The public is just getting a glimpse of what is going behind doors, which leads to a lot of assumptions and anger because of their parasocial relationship with them. Here's the thing, it has been talked since ages about the victim mentality and lowkey manipulation tactics Selena shows. But also, she can also be a victim of bullying too. Two things can be true at once. Is Hailey the worst human being? No, has she done shady and outright questionable things in order to get Justin and have things in common with Selena, like getting the exact same tattoo? Yes. Also she id friends with Kendall, and there's evidence she is def a bully. There was a lot of evidence in how Hailey used to be lowkey obsessed with Selena, but people fail to realize that the feeling is mutual. I don't think Selena is in love with Justin, but i think she has a loneliness that no one(family, friends, partners, etc.) has managed to fulfill. She is always saying how happy and single she is, which there's nothing wrong with that, we women need more of that, but i don't think she actually feels like that. I think she wants a stable partner, and i guess in a way she still feels wrong how Justin played her and how bad of a boyfriend he was, so i dont think is love, more obsession in getting avenged. By maybe having Justin still think about her(but he seems he doesn't even think about himself) and have the public think she was the best thing he let go. So it makes sense for her to regularly take breaks from the internet. It doesn't make sense to be regularly announcing it, but she very well could have been lacking that filter at the time? Possibly? I don't know, I'm always one to give the benefit of the doubt but she of course isn't immune to criticism. I just hope she finds stability, clarity and peace.

I get that and all of that is understandable. But I can’t get over how inconsistent she is. She’s a unicef ambassador but around the time that the BLM protests happened she complained that famous people were only focused on celeb drama/gossip and celebs with influence weren’t talking about important topics. But when someone pointed out the issues (police brutality, racism, anti-blackness) that were causing protests and waves at the time and the fact that she had been silent. She replied by saying that she doesn’t want to « take sides » mind you, this is not about her, and people were grieving George Floyd (victims of police brutality). She also said she took time off Instagram this time around because people were asking her to speak up for Palestine (which she eventually did but made it all about her). She wants to come off as a supporter even champion of women’s rights, child rights, and peace and yet she only does so when it portrays her in a good light and when it suits her. She doesn’t need to speak up about current events but as someone who makes it apart if her brand it’s clear that her advocacy is performative. Anyways that’s my rant 😅
