They chose JLO bc the family thought she could be SELENA in the movie. The family agreed with the casting director in choosing JLO and of course the producers preferred someone who had more experience in acting bc they said they didn't want to spend a lot of time and money on training someone. The nineteen year old woman interviewed in this vid came close to resembling SELENA in looks and personality I thought. But of course JLO did a fantastic job portraying SELENA and obviously they chose the right person to do the job. 'Selena' is a timeless treasure. I have it in my archives like most all her fans and viewers. SELENA, our angel see you again someday. Til then rip.😍😘

@@steelstreet3765 I just found out that they had chose a person to play SELENA but she was found dead. She looked just like SELENA. I saw it on my fb page. I don't recall her name but there's a pic of her at SELENA'S gravesite.

Actually Abraham wanted a girl from Miami that looked more like Selena not JLO but the casting director convinced that jlo would be the best choice

@@oblongfan1 Yes, correction on that. Abraham had a girl in.mind but he said she froze during rehearsal. She was so young and had never acted before so of course they couldn't hire her. But there was another young woman they had wanted to try out but she was found murdered, hence JLO. But like I said, obviously they made the right choice. Abraham is reaping the benefits so he should be happy.

Dammm the first Girl could have done the Selena movie . I just saw this video and she spoke really well,not even that she had all her moves . The way she talked was just like Selena ! The fact that none of these girls (who auditioned for Selena) never had a chance because the casting directors had Salma Hayek, or Jennifer Lopez in mind was just evil. Salma refused to do the movie out of respect for Selena, because it was “disturbing” to be approached with a project 2 weeks after Selena’s death. The movie may have released in 1997, but this project began almost immediately after Selena’s death.

Also olga Tañón and Bibi Gaytán too. Selena’s parents went to Olga’s house to ask her about the role and her father offered her English lessons to help her with English. but she was hesitant because Spanish was her first language. So she declined. Olga and Selena we're actually friends. I think the idea for the movie was created before she passed..🤔

1.)That 19 y.o Jorgen Flores doesnt look like selena, but she looks like brunette version of Thalia Sodi. 2.)The 2nd 14 y.o girl wearing read i dont hear clearly her name its like Ricky Martinez? Doesnt look like selena, shes a mix of Alicia Keys, Sasha Banks & Tamaryn Green 3.) That 23 y.o cleary also dont look like selena very far 4.) That girl dancing & singing wearing a same dress of selena in astrodome is very far to be look alike.
