As a 62 yo I'm reviewing what I have been focusing and thinking on to date. Praying for increased revelation and freedom to welcome and experience the plans God has for me, what He unfolds, whether these plans align with my goals or not.❤😌

Doesn't this actually make a person disconnected from others? (Apathetic, even.) Or, so heavenly-minded they are no earthly good? I'm thinking of my parents, who would describe themselves as living this way, but they do not live out the gospel at all...instead they focus on their heavenly rewards (selfishly), if that makes sense, and do not even attempt to make God's kingdom happen now (leading to some very odd and painful outcomes).

Oh dear…you need to listen/read to Dr. Larry Crabb to get the bigger picture. Sorry that your parents have skewed the gospel in your eyes and caused so much pain. That does not mean though that their personal failures represent the true gospel. May God meet you at your point of need.

@@nze358, thank you for writing and showing care. The enemy always wants to skew the truth, and this is the battle I've had to fight to keep getting to and staying in the real gospel, as opposed to any of the different kinds of churchianity that may even have all their theological i's dotted and t's crossed, but don't really know Christ as the savior +they+ need, and that grace doesn't have any pretentions in it or it may not be genuine. I look for love/compassion/kindness/caring combined with humility, and when I find those two things together usually it is the true gospel. I am indeed familiar with Dr. Crabb and have found him very helpful--wish he was still around.

@@lynnlewis9938 I hear ya! I recently came through 2 years of processing a deep hurt I had suffered from a church I had attended. At that time in my spiritual life I desperately needed a friend, and had (naively) thought the couple of women I had met were genuinely interested in befriending me. One proved only to be interested in padding the numbers in her ministry; while the other was looking to ditch her workload in the church. I fell fast and hard for the sales pitch of "fellowship" which never quite materialized. All talk -- no walk. I got used. And when I spoke out against it? -- I got kicked out (a blessing in disguise, really 😃)!
