The problem is probably the translation, in french most of the cutscene makes no sense, Lara enters and says "What are you doing here?", then instead of saying "No and no" she says "None of that", then about the map she asks him on which "stone" to walk on to cross the swamp, but it's some leaves not stones... Also if you don't land perfectly on the leaves you can think it's not a platform while it is... truly a nightmare xD This cutscene should be at the beginning of the level not at the end of the previous one.

How does the AI understands the map and knows how/when to use it?

I'm guessing it understands the cut scene dialogue with the soldier that preceded the start of the level.

It doesn't, there is no way to cross this path without help as the AI works with texture and in this case the plateforms all have the same texture and are flat, so she should be able to walk on all of them, as it targets the closest one the try and error would take too much time, there is also a glitchy hitbox under the platforms that AI tries to grab when it sinks, in the bloopers you can hear Lara is grabbing something to walk on it but under the mud, and as she isn't visible under it AI tries to move the camera to make her visible, which in this case is impossible because the camera can't cross the mud, so she dies again and again, textures also moves which is problematic, mud shouldn't be walkable. Basically opening the map triggers the path to follow, in this situation the map acts like the compass in TR1 🤗 In fact that area is a very bad game design as most players thought some textures wouldn't move to indicate you can walk on, or for a short moment, but no, they are all moving, and it's unclear your must use the map as in the short cutscene the audio is terrible and it's the first time we have to use an item like that, in fact it took me 15 years to realize the map was a clue, even tutorials displayed the path with screenshots instead of the map... They really should ask something to tell you "you now have a map in your inventory", the fact they didn't fix the issue for a remaster suggest they didn't try their best with this project, the same way they didn't fix the brightness issue, they had time to add rainbows but not a simple clue there, of course if they all knew to use the map it was obvious for them, but for all people I know this part was supposidly impossible on PS1 and everybody used the cheatcode... That's why most people today ignore there is a trex on TR3.

There isn't an AI playing the game. This is a human-controlled Let's Play with AI voice and possibly AI-supported script. The fact that the channel is so aggressively performance managed is the other hint. There's a new wave of AI-powered hustlers trying to gain multiple times the normal youtuber income by making ChatGPT (or Suno, or Midjourney, or all three) do their work for them and running multiple channels at once. All those ambient music channels (using Suno, stolen or AI generated art, and monomaniacally following search trends), social media readthrough channels (AI voice reading text content from Reddit, with easy-to-make game footage or shimmer-animated stock images for the visuals), "I ran old currently-nostalgia-relevant game assets through AI image tools, LOOK what happened" and so on. Foxy has a long channel history dedicated to optimised revenue seeking behaviour, and this continues to today. The videos clipped to attention-maximising lengths, the premieres, the shorts, the constant calls to action, the comment-prompting channel in-jokes, the constant "quiz question" polls which are just another interaction farming mechanic, the way the AI (which can't read our comments) plays to the audience's reactions... If you tell an LLM to roleplay as Lara Croft, it won't randomly yell "Torch" when lighting a flare. The catch is that Foxy is following the money every time they do something like that, but if they had the AI tech to make the channel run honestly, they'd be a millionaire on their own merits. This channel, if it existed at all, would either be an advertisement for the tech or run in a laissez-faire way by an eccentric genius from his Lara-shaped swimming pool.
