buy me a coffee www.buymeacoff... Part 4 of our very popular conservatory build, where we add an extra 180 square ft to our house on a budget for around £2500. Using own self taught talents, and second hand ebay double glazing!

Oh Jim you’ve gone and done it wrong. You’re supposed to do it here at my house so I can enjoy it too. 😆 It looks great! You are a man of many talents. A true Handy Dad 😃👍🏼

Thank you David. A tired man of talents thou, it's not as easy as it was 15 years ago... Before semi retirement and emigration and the return to sunny UK lol, half 10 and we have just finished all the exterior cladding boards and plastics to the sides, apart from top coat render exterior done. Will not see a drop of rain now for weeks....

I'm astonished at the amount of work - and the number of separate steps - involved in building your own conservatory. You clearly know what you're doing, and you're not hanging about. I fear this may be beyond my skills... 🥴 As an aside, if you'll pardon the expression, I find a wet finger is particularly useful... when smoothing out your sealant.

Thank you , I'm sure there's a lot of work involved in doing anything on a size scale , what these videos never showed was the working out before hand, I had to get a rough size Mac / min , then locate second hand windows to fit the rough size. THEN once we had the windows work out the size to build to to make them fit - I actually built the entire thing around the size of the windows ,! I know about the lick the finger and the squirt with soapy water but having gone thru in excess of 500 tubes so far thru life I still prefer dry finger! Plus who knows what we're licking when you've made the first pass . ....

It is a massive thing but I used to buy very run down or derilucy houses and turn them round , got let down by every trade at one point or another but I'm a monkey see monkey do type of person and can learn by watching. Everything tmyou see is self taught .

@@dadsworkshop Yes, the window-fitting element was making my brain hurt tbh, as I guessed you were having to design it all around them.

Quality work there jim. Absolutely amazing. Im thinking to do the exactly the same. Just wanted to know the hight of your windows you used there please ? Thanks
@dadsworkshop Жыл бұрын
Thanks ! First off the important thing , windows must be 80 cm or higher from finished floor level or else they need toughened glass( kids heads etc banging on them ) so doors need toughed as do any windows 300 mm from a door . My windows are around 120 cm high . But that's only because that was came up on eBay !

@starfoxandstellar99172 жыл бұрын
Curious, but why didn't you insulate the floors and walls? Wouldn't that help keep the room the same temperature regardless of season?
@dadsworkshop2 жыл бұрын
I did insulate the walls ...... It's in a video clearly showing the wife doing it . Pointless insulating a concrete floor of a conservatory .especially in this case the conservatory floor would then be higher than the air bricks of the house , causing major problems .
