It's a lot easier with a real halter with the line on the side ring and well timed ''move out'' cues.

I have seen some people have a rope draped around the hocks and connected to the saddle or surcingle to encourage this

There are all sorts of different ways people try to achieve this, I just find this way to be the easiest.

I've got to try this. I have one horse that floats when he trots, the other slogs through the trot.
