In this video, we analyze the defense against the push and shove in a street fight. The first thing that you should do if you were faced against a potential attacker is to bring your hands up.
You also need to position yourself correctly to be ready to defend and fight back if need be. By placing your hands in a passive stance, you create some sort of shield between you and your opponent.
You should also try as much as possible to not let your attacker get too close of you. It's good to have a safe distance, to avoid getting hit by your opponent. It seems basic, but it's a crucial element of self defense.
If you do get caught off guard and you get pushed or shove by an angry man, you need to bring your hands up as quickly as you can. It's best to use a passive stance, making it seem like you "don't want to fight".
If the attacker makes a committed shove with lots of energy, you can open up his hands and come in with a solid head butt. If you read his intentions quickly, you can throw in a solid palm strike to your attacker's face to prevent him from coming at you.
Another key self defense principle against the push and shove is to avoid walking backwards in a straight line. Instead, you should move in a circular angle to make it harder for your opponent to hit you.
Moving from side to side, will disrupt the commitment of your attacker and make it much more difficult to get the momentum going for the push and shove.
We hope that you enjoyed these self defense tips.
