Active attention to Active Self Protection really demands a complete reevaluation of self-defense in contemporary America. I've long been an enthusiast of firearms and their ownership but was also somewhat skeptical of my own legal ability and the overall legitimate use of the firearm in actual defensive use. I've moved from my father once asking me to never buy a handgun because he thought the simple act of owning one compared to a long gun makes one more prone to violence to instead carrying one at all times and places it is legal for me to do so. John provides all of this to us, in High Definition, at no charge to us, though not for free. He rightfully asks and correctly demands our full attention and serious reflection on each lesson he can provide us. Going through and learning from his "Victim Loses the Deadly Force Encounter" playlist is price and payoff the same. Nothing is quite so eye opening as failure of others. And someone who provides a new lesson almost every day of the year is something to value. An endorsement from John and a long and serious look at Firearms Legal Protection's actual Terms and Conditions leave one with little doubt to it's utility and honesty. I signed up right after, $21 is small change for REAL security, which Firearms Legal Protection does provide, especially compared to competitors. John, thanks for being honest, and for actually caring about your subscribers. Your channel has significantly altered my life, and I am safer because of it, and thankful always. God Bless you.

Foreal John. You helped open my eyes towards not just the self defense aspect but the medical preparedness as well. Can't carry a firearm in CA just yet But at least I can carry that ankle IFAK you recommended. It really is great and you really don't notice it! hopefully I will never have to use it on someone who is seriously hurt, But John I hope you know that one day if someone did get hurt in my vicinity and I am able to help them, its because of you and all the great work you're doing!

RPG: Well said! Having watched John for several years, I just joined FLP Premium... then sent email to all the kids and their spouses, some who carry occasionally, telling of our decision and offering to pay their premiums if they want to join also. This is so vital, to protect against having the latter years of life ruined by the legal system after barely escaping the thugs.

Currently with uscca for my protection plan and just verified by phone with Brittney at uscca that in the scenario mentioned above regarding taking a plea for a lesser charge to lessen the liability of going to trial, uscca benefits will cease due to them "not supporting illegal activity" and you will be on your own. I will be changing my personal protection plan TODAY.

Great video John!! The aftermath of a defensive shooting is something too many gun owners never consider. I'll bet at least 99% of gun owners never consider this and are therefore naked against the legal repercussions. Some people are probably thinking "I don't have to worry about legal protection. I'll never get attacked. I know how to avoid trouble." Yeah lol!! There's ZERO guarantee that you'll never get attacked, though awareness and avoidance are totally critical. Stories of gun owners committing totally justified defensive shootings, yet getting their lives ruined in the aftermath because they didn't have a strong legal defense to cover them are nothing unusual. They happen all the time!! My suggestion is: Do your rights, reputation, and your freedom a favor and sign up!! I don't care if you sign up for USCCA, Firearms Legal Defense, CCWSafe, Self Defense Fund, Second Call Defense, etc. Just sign up!! This is coming from a member of Self Defense Fund!

Wow John! I have given a good deal of thought to the "fight for the rest of my life....." and to be honest it is very overwhelming and more than a little bit scary. I do carry and I have no coverage at all but, I will still defend myself, my family, and whoever else is in danger if that action must be taken. I absolutely understand that the world we live in today is all twisted around and sadly just because a person is fully right and justified in defending themselves with deadly force they will still be treated and convicted(and sued) the same as a convicted guilty serial killer. With that said I am taking a very serious look at fitting some type of self defense coverage into my budget. I truly can not imagine being in a position of being fully innocent, right, and justified in defending myself and still having mine and my family's lives completely ruined. John, I really can't say enough of how much I appreciate what you are doing with Active Self Protection, Active Self Protection Extra, and now offering this type of protection for your supporters. Thank you so much. I know others have commented the same and I am probably repeating everything but, I believe it needs to be said by more than just one person. God bless you and what you're doing John! Be safe! Randy

Ok so im seeing a red flag in my mind from 2 statements in the video. I’ve watched this 3 times now since this topic is my next major decision. Question is- from the statement that legal protection covers everything all the way through, and next thing said is the attorney is contracted for a flat fee. My issue is if attorney is contracted for a flat fee and my defense is complicated and long creating extensive cost for the attorney, whats going to keep the attorney fighting for me once the expenses get to high for him? Am i missing something ?

Snowdonkie agreed. It's clear people that say that never took a defensive gun course, a CCW course or read any of the books on self defense. You shoot to stop a threat. Sometimes stopping the threat means death to the aggressor and sometimes it doesn't.

I'm from Detroit and am now considering purchasing a flamethrower. Ha-ha, kidding kidding - I'm actually two miles north of the Detroit. I read the following statistic recently - that the chances of one needing to use his/her firearm in self defense would be the same as thinking of two cards out of two decks of cards, throwing the decks onto the ground face down, then randomly picking those two cards up. Nonetheless you must be prepared and, with that said, I am still highly considering subscribing to Firearms Legal Protection. I love the fact that even if a plea is taken or the defender is found guilty, they still stand by you. The competition that I've seen runs when "it's kinda a little bit you're fault." Thanks a ton John.

Most law enforcement/prosecutors look for any reason to charge a civilian with a crime when protecting his life with a firearm. On the other hand, they look for every reason not to charge a leo, even the most egregious of cases. I'm not anti cop, but that is the reality today.

It's because they, just like Leo's, are stat driven. They don't care about guilt or innocence, they only care if they can convict you. If there's any question about that, they don't pick up the case. That's why you never help them do their job by giving a statement, permitting a search, etc.

John, in an extenuating circumstance, as you guys mentioned "being behind those walls." If a person's financial situation deems that they are unable to pay the $25,000, is there some sort of alternative to be able to make a payment with an attorney?
@ASPextra
@ASPextra 3 жыл бұрын
A public defender is the alternative. Of course, PDs are good people but are usually vastly overworked and will not be able to give you the kind of defense you want.

If you take a plea to even a misdemeanor charge in the state of Michigan, keep this in mind: You will not be aloud to keep your CPL. You'll have to reapply for it in seven or eight years (I'm pretty sure that's the amount of time, unless you plead down to domestic violence for some reason, which is federal, and you'll never get it back.) Meanwhile, you could have disgruntled family members and or friends, from the deceased, who certainly aren't happy with you. That's so messed up, because you'll have to make the decision - depending how serious it is - whether you should carry anyway and risk prison, or not carry and risk your life....

Hey @Active Self Protection Extra, could you please do a comparison between FLP and the Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network? I just took Massad’s MAG 40 class and I am struggling to compare the two options.

I love Mas and respect him highly. The ONLY thing ACLDN promises members is a retainer for their attorney. That's it. That's the only thing promised. Anything else is "as determined by the board." Now, the men currently on the board are pretty decent fellows. But they don't have to give you a thing if you're not in their good graces, and they have a limit that right now is much, much less than the cost of a criminal murder trial. FLP has none of those limitations. Their contract for services includes much more and isn't bound to a limit of half their fund because that's not their model. It includes way more than ACLDN does.

I'm very impressed with Firearms legal defense, but I also really like CCWSafe. Can someone tell me what the differences - the important differences --- are between those two if I'm involved in a home defense situation or in an outside the home situation? Outside the home is what really scares me.

I just took my CPL class at a range on 8 mile they heavily promoted USCCA and the owner of the range is apparently one of the bigger firearm attorneys in the state and seems to have a good relationship with them my problem was he seemed like a total fudd and that doesn’t seem ideal where as with firearm legal protection Terry seems like a great guy and happens to be local to me i just found out he’s the one taking on Wayne county for their absurdly long cpl waitlist and definitely seems like the type of guy I’d like to have access to for legal help

I’ve been with Texas Law Shield for years and I have the “equivalent” of your premium family plan for just slightly less than the ASP discounted price. On paper they are virtually the same except US&TLS only covers a $25k bond. Have you ever heard any negative feedback from users with issues when they needed to be protected? I haven’t seen anything definitive, just some general comments, both good and bad. I have a renewal in December and would be willing to switch if you have some information that they may not hold up their end when things get difficult. Thanks

I don’t have a problem with USLS and am glad you’re protected. I think the higher bond limits is pretty significant.

Do they offer educational materials pertaining to self defense law? Able to bounce questions off of a lawyer about concerns you may have about SD? I'd be happy to consider them as legal defense.

Active Self Protection Extra allow me to clarify what I mean. In the state of Missouri, we have the castle doctrine, as well as a variant of the so called "stand your ground" law, and a constitutional carry state. However, the laws are subject to change at a whim. And aren't written in a way for the common man to understand, aka legalese. Do they provide any information allowing me, the end user, to interpret those laws to learn what a judge/jury/officer would say was a justified use of lethal force?

Probably a dumb question but I’ll ask it anyway. So since this is a pre paid legal service, what happens if I defend my self within the first year of membership?
@ASPextra
@ASPextra 6 жыл бұрын
It's not really prepaid legal; it's a membership service agreement. Therefore you get coverage from the first day you're a member.
