The German-Swiss painter Ottilie W. Roederstein (1859-1937) was one of the outstanding women artists of the period around 1900. The Städel Museum presents a comprehensive retrospective that provides an overview of the artistic development of a painter distinguished by her stylistic versatility. In the film accompanying the exhibition, Eva-Maria Höllerer, one of the curators of the exhibition, and Dr Iris Schmeisser, Head of Provenance Research and the Historical Archive, explore the question of what makes the painter so unique.
