I would not expect a fresh egg in the brownie pack - it would be pretty awkward to find it after storing it for a few years in a cabinet 😅

there is probably a best before date somewhere on the packet, to tell you how long it can be stored

​@@tabby_cat yeah. In east asia, even though it's packaged like that they tend to try to keep it for a certain period of time before selling it at a discounted price to ensure it is consumed before expiry.

With the first two meals it looks like everything's already cooked (apart from the rice and the noodles), so you'd be able to eat them cold. As for the brownie: Japanese people eat raw eggs, so I wouldn't worry about that one either.

For 6 US dollars, the curry rice looks to be a pretty filling meal! I’m surprised with how generous the package is with the rice. Microwave food where I live tends to come with minimal… everything 😅

Rice is cheap tbh. It’s a filler. Like pasta is usually cheap as well as it’s a filler. I think it’s whether you get a good amount of meat or decent vegetables.

@@johannfunn6962I like rice as long as there is a good sauce (of course plain rice tastes of little). That’s why if I had these packs I’d tip the meat/sauce onto the rice side and mix together.

$21 for a brownie!!!! Geez that better be one good Brownie! Tbh these packs would be great to have in storage for emergency packs should electricity go down (as it does in my rural area in Australia fairly frequently) or a disaster. I’m surprised they are not more available here in the west.

I really enjoyed seeing the time lapse of the cooking process. The view of the beach is nice too!!! I wanted to point out that ants were crawling around the container occasionally, so I'd next time recommend the higher surface/ground so insects don't get in the way of the food

Yeah, I kept wanting to say to move away from the antnest, you could clearly see them crawling around the whole area. Bacon did move for the last part but it was fairly distracting.

Yeah so many questions with that one. It doesn't seem to have any end date on the package either. Do they sell this brownie refrigerated? Will they just repackage it if not sold after 3 months (let's assume "fresh" egg can last this long, although personally I'll question any egg older than 10-14 days in my fridge).

@@sarmatiko In many countries people don’t keep their raw eggs in the fridge. In USA you wash the protective outer coating off, that makes them porous and susceptible to bacteria. Your egg yolks also seem oddly coloured and pale - not sure why? I live in the UK and am lucky enough to be able to buy all of my eggs from a farm shop and don’t have to worry about dates - if the egg floats then don’t use it is how I gauge it if unsure

@@sarmatiko as Lou has stated we have different methods for our eggs that most of the world in which is due to alternative methods against salmonella. I would hope they do have a labeled expiration date or something due to that egg. If refrigerated eggs can last up to 21 days according to the FDA. it’s all a Matter of different country different rules in hindsight.

@@gothica3605es but they only survive for a short period. Eggs do go off. Maybe a month at most. So they would need to sell them fast.

They do. Found a few at a Asian market. They are not cheap. I got it, if the power goes out, I have something warm.

Yea they’d be good for emergencies and disasters. Rather than those survival packs that often need you to pour in already hot water (so it assumes you have a fire to heat water)

The beachside scenery is always a treat, thank you for continuing to deliver great content. The meals look tasty but that brownie stole the show, the entertainment that came with it is just a bonus. I laughed too, a fart will never not be funny - at least in my opinion.

This could be a game changer for people experiencing disasters, emergencies or just love camping and cooking outdoors. I just hope it wouldn't lead to more littering as there is a lot of packaging. Also just an FYI if you over-mix brownie batter you end up with a cake-like result.

I love being on the beach in the summer; I might not be by an ocean, but Lake Ontario ptoduces some nice beach waves to relax by, so I really enjoy whenever you're at this particular sandy spot. Loved watching the sailboats. To me, the hotpot from Haidilao was the star because I love spice (or did I get it confused with the rice?) Anyway, another thoroughly enjoyable self heating meal series. I wish we had these in 🇨🇦 where I live.

The clouds move really fast when we wait for food to cook. Maybe when cooking, a good rule is to never look up or you'll get dizzy. Sailor: "How can we get there faster if we're already late, sir?" Captain: "The kitchen is cooking self heating meals. The calcium oxide and water mixture will get us to port in half the time. Now get me a spoon, sailor."

That Brownie was a bit on the pricey side but looked good. I love these videos when our on the beach. The boats looked like they were having a good during the speed-up cooking time.

A) The spork in the first meal is really cool. I´d actually buy some of these. B) Vid follows the golden DB rule: If it has red sauce, it will be delicious! C) If they could, several ants would give this vid a thumbs-up ( nothing wrong with them, made me smile realizing they like the same food as us humans :) )

As someone said below these would be amazing in an emergency or if power goes out etc. I just think here in the UK we'd never get these as we can't be trusted! You just know kids and adults would use these in the opposite way intended. Which sucks! I'd love to try some of these!

@@xr6lad LOL, I'm just taking the piss either way, but did you see the ants? They were crawling all over the packaging and the ground, on the grass mat, and even in the food bowl. Nah, I ain't having that. I live in the country, so ants are common out here -- as are field mice, and I would rather have a mouse in the house than a kitchen counter covered in piss ants! :D

I wonder if part of it is import cost, since the price mentions shipping? On my side, lots of sites that sell EA/SEA foodstuffs is very expensive, x2 or x3 original price before shipping -- Maybe it is same in reverse, since the brownie did not seem to be same style as usual self-heating foods DancingBacons has shown us (the packaging is just a bunch of ziplock baggies etc) 🤔

Self-heating food is trending in China. The food doesn’t worth the price but the fun packaging and cooking process makes it interesting. It’s great for picnic and camping. Lots Americans find it amazing, although it’s been used for military rations for decades.

These self heating food boxes may be convenient but they are just contributing to all the plastic waste which all ends up in the trash - it's sad to see.

We need those here in South Africa! We have loadshedding where they switch off our electricity 3-4 times a day for two hours! This would really come in handy to have a nice hot meal.

As good as it is, I would not advise. There is a lot of trash! If possible, you can look into the bricks light on fire and use those instead for cooking! It’s multi use and better for the environment.
