Nice run through - I totally agree re keeping all the docker data together in subfolders rather than spread across the machine, that's why I don't like using default docker volumes either, I prefer to specify. BTW if using NPM then rather than opening a weird port you can just use 'expose 80' and than you can point NPM to port 80.

@@alanjrobertson thanks for that! I’ll have to give that a go

I always put my volumes /mapped folders in a dedicated directory, e.g. /dockerdata/[service]/ for one reason, makes it easy to collect everything needed for the nightly backup. I use Portainer so part of that dockerdata is the all the container configurations.

'Expose 80' Is this dependent on what networking mode the docker app is using (eg. Host, Bridge) ?

I need this now. :) Just as I wrapped my head around gotify. A breeze of a walk through. Love your channel and site.

Nice, in the docker compose under health check 09:59 do you need to change port 80 to 8075 to make sure ntfy is running?
@Techdox9 күн бұрын
No that’s the internal port in the container, so can leave that as it is :)

I have trouble setting my android phone to get notifications from ntfy, cause it keeps shutting it down because of battery drain. I've tried to disable this but it seems it's not completely possible in my old huawei device. Any advice?

I don't want to let everyone on the world wide web easily access and use my self-hosted ntfy server for their own needs. I'd like to keep it to myself. How do I go about putting some login process in the front?
@cyberjohn449 күн бұрын
Agree. That is my biggest issue with NTFY. Also a hacker can hijack your session if not careful and open a door into your systems.

Hey! So two options, you can just have it behind a vpn but that means you need to have your VPN on to get notified or you can configure Cloudflare tunnels and it expose it that way which allows you to add an authentication prompt to access the service
@cybersmart_eu6 күн бұрын
When you anyway have a reverse proxy for https in front of notify, you can easily also add basic authentication (username/password) or even more sophisticated services like authentic to protect remote access to the service. However, I'd recommend VPN (e.g. wireguard).
