I am honestly inspired by your words and for some reason I completely resonate with your story. A lot of people I know have friends the apply colleges with and support each other during their decisions , I do wish I had that person because I feel as though you need an extra leg or support . But that’s just me I guess!

Hey, Megan. I attended college in DC too (AU) and I really regretted it. Tbh, I think it's best to save that money to go to a cheaper state school for ANY type of education in order to save that money so you don't end up crippling the rest of your life by student loan. Georgetown is a good school, but it's also an extremely overrated and overpriced one. I went to AU and I visited Georgetown frequently because my friend went there. Also it depends on what you want to study. If it's liberal arts, you can get a degree in a cheaper state university with equal merits. If it's STEM, then Georgetown, AU or GW, all these schools are horrible in STEm and are overpriced. If you're from MD, I suggest you go to UMD. If you're from VA, if your grades are good, you should choose UVA or VT, if not, GMU is not a bad choice. The point is to save money and avoid these "prestigious" degrees. Just my 2 cents.

Sam Luo I totally get that! The reason why I prefer private schools is because of financial aid. I’m an international student and would be paying 40k+ in any state school. If I was a resident, I would happily go to UMD/UVA. But it would be cheaper (25-30k) for me to go to private school. I would definitely encourage people to look into it (and I know public schools here are amazing) but private school works best for my situation!

@@megzcreates That's great. Gtown has a great Poli Sci program. You can try getting an internship on the Hill during your undergrad years. Anyways good luck with college. Gtown is in an amazing neighborhood. I miss the Waterfront a lot.
