Actually the first calculus book Feynman used is called "Calculus made easy" by Silvanus Thompson. My grandfather had the pleasure to interview Feynman. Feynman asked him if he knew about calculus (my grandfather used to tell me Feynman was always asking that question because he thought calculus is the language of universe), and he said: "No, cuz I'm not that good at math". Then, Feynman replied: "It's not that complicated! It's pretty easy to learn its basics. My advice for you is to use Calculus made easy by silvanus Thompson, I used that book at the age of 14! I'm sure you can understand it pretty easily". Feynman also used the book u were talking about in the video, but it was not his first calculus book".

I read that Feynman taught himself integral calculus at 14 and mastered it by 15. Another source says Feynman started studying calculus at 13 and had mastered it by 15.

I was just working on writing a private physics lesson aimed at children for my self-study, using both the Feynman Lectures and his Method! This video is an intriguing surprise. I love your channel. It makes me want to learn all things math/physics. Please consider making videos on quantum mechanics or logic (specially Gödel's Incompletude Theorems, they're mindblowing). Cheers from a fan in Brazil.

Dear Maths Sorcer, do you know a book about Optimisation? particularly, finite & infinite horizon dynamic programming & backward induction? I have a couple of books written by Sundrham and one written by Sudhir Pundir but I still am startled by many questions and I cannot solve many problems on these topics correctly. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks .

Hello math sorcerer I Love what you do and i always watch your videos to gain motivation to study and practice mathematics when ever I'm not in the mood for it However, can you make a video for what mathematics to be proficient in for computer science sine I'm a student of computer science and I also know that mathematics is the difference between a good programmer and a great programmer. If it concerns you my interests are android development, game development, block chain development and penetration testing and I'm eager to find out which mathematical principles will be most helpful in these fields.

Hi I just recently finished highschool and turned 18 this year, but the thing is I know nothing about calculus (well not nothing, but what I know is not alot), and I would like to take some math classes in uni alongside my course, do you think I should start self studying during the holidays I have before University or wait till uni starts and take classes there to learn and brush up on my math knowledge?

We need to get a good perfumer-chemist to bottle that old-math-book smell. It would renew our interest in all the ladies in our harems who would wear it.....
