This is one of the most amazing things I've seen. I was blown away, and when I saw the "Crawl on irregular surfaces" with the "swimming on land" routine, I was in awe. Amazing.

Thanks. I had to improvise with its 'walking' for my project, but it does have to stand and walk upright as that's the only configuration where it can detect all types of obstruction (all tasks) - a lower configuration would not identify slope, stairs, etc.

gr8 robot... and I understand that it can be programmed to walk in multiple ways... and loved its Haka Dance in the beginning.... but it appears that it has been preprogrammed everytime for each scenario, a common algorithm is what should be desired. still cheers for such a good project.

Mind = blown!! Excellent work, sir! Especially last one makes it just a class apart! Just some doubts: What (weird, shaky) action does it do every time it does a task? Kind of calibration? Why does it do so long for last task?

@poof0poop lol thanks.. Yes, I programmed the transformations for each task, but it identifies the obstruction by itself using sensors
@hwud1
@hwud1 12 жыл бұрын
Thanks !.. Let me try to explain.. The light sensor(s) in the front acts like a short-range distance sensor - it checks for reflected light when each leg is on ground, if it reflects light to any extent it means it has detected the ground, but if it is on an irregular surface, the leg lands on a 'gap', and it will not reflect any light back, because the range of that sensor goes just 1cm beyond the wheel-base. Hint: watch from 3:32 to 3:42 - Notice the red lights, especially at carpet :)

Very nicely done. However, considering the presence of "limbs" in your robot, how come you didn't make it walk like a four-legged spider on the irregular surface? By making it crawl like that it might get jammed in a hypothetical gravel road or grassy field, don't you think? Just to be sure, I'm not belittling you excellent project, but rather sharing my observations. Keep up the great work :)

I can understand identifying the height obstacle with the sharp rangefinder. But how does it identify the irregular surface (carpet)? That doesn't sound realistic to me. However, amazing job on the different movement modes. Wished it was a better walker too. :)

for walking, I would reccomend one-foot-at-a-time, with more "throwing around" it's weight. It may be ahrd to do with those servos, but I do know that it is doable...
