Keep trying, dont give up, you will eventually work them out. Also the boat issues didnt help. Fishing like anything else takes practice. Plus I enjoy watching along with the gardening.

Love the videos. Best advice when your getting sharked is to put a big chunk of whatever they took a bite of on a big hook and strap in for a fight! Look into a avet reel you can spool up with some 100-200lb braid.

Hi Mark and James, my husband and I owned a pro boat for a long time, but, years ago, out of Cairns and Gladstone. We used fixed Alvey Reels baited lures and live bait. I wore gloves and easily brought in BIG Spaniards. We used pillys [frozen pilchards] for Coral Trout and deep sea for Reds. Traditionally winter is the best for Spaniards, where we fished. And, we only ever used handlines, never rods, much easier to feel the current and hits big and small. Hope this helps.

Also routinely change lures and run different sizes and profiles….

I think you should see if you can hire a guide to take you out and you might have to pay for half a day but you will learn a few things like the spots to go and methods to catch them that will get you started

The beauty and simplicity of fishing is that anyone can do it. Can i be of any assistance?

Sounds like you need a new impeller on the bait tank pump aswell as a really good clean. The other bit with the sounder will be corrosion on the board. Have a ripper you guys!

Down rigger and planers could help with the troll, also just troll between the spots you are gonna drop at

Keep it up guys, the more experience you get the better you will be. Are you paying attention to the Barometer and moon cycle?

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I plan all my fishing around that. Shit I've even planned holidays according to the fishing cycle. lol.

All of the zero days are just building up your credit and knowledge. Soon you'll be making some big withdrawals. Well done, keep going. 👍 Seasickness: Ginger beer is good! Also, relax your core, let your body sway with the rhythm of the boat. Eyes on the horizon.. If all that fails, I find a tactical chunder can sometimes be useful. 🤪

The deck wash will be an air lock , take the hose off at the pump and run it till it picks up, boats need a shit load of running maintenance and keep them clean in the bilge where the pumps are Keep it up guys it will come good and ask your mates for some good spots otherwise you will loose interest and we don’t want that Cheers

Try reducing your speed when trolling guys. Maybe around 8 knots or so. Also try a paravane to get the lure a bit deeper. Cheers Eric

Have you tried sitting above a known reef and using berley? Drop some livies in the berley trail? Even pilchard chunks. I get sea sick as well Mark so feel your pain. Even Chase some squid? Surely you can catch a nice feed of calamari

@@selfsuffishingme hit the local Tackle Shop up for some waypoints. Mention your channel and say I'll give you a shout out if we land anything worth keeping lol. I'm fairly new myself to fishing with a boat and the help I've gotten from my tackle shop and some locals have been so valuable

- Fish light to get the bite - Research some berley (use chook pellets mixed with tuna oil) - When using berley, use no weight or pea sized sinker with hook (nothing else) to slowly sink bait into the berley trail - Check the bite times for your fishing spot - Try heading further up north to some unspoilt reefs. Please don’t give up, your gardening and fishing show keeps me keen, I love seeing fellow amateurs giving it a crack.

Mate, I've commented before. When you're trolling for Spanish. Go grab yourself a Helco fast trolling lure 2 to 3m depth, troll that at the back of your engines bubble trail. 2nd lure is a deep diving Nomad lure, troll this one 10 m from your boat about the first or 2nd wave from your motors wash. trolling speed is good. just run that reef up and down and you will catch a span-dog.
