Very nice, very nice. I won't even ask how you got away with being in there, or are you on the side lines of the yard? We drove right in to Elkhart yard with a Conrail Employee timetable on the dash of my car in the late eighties, one time, and parked right next to the hump tower and nobody asked us any questions!

Hey Bob, I was shooting from a public road that crossed over the yard on that steel bridge. It appears that the bridge and road are now gone (Google Maps). I could see how you can be parked inconspicuously and not be bothered. It seems in these huge yards, the best hiding place is in plain sight. I have driven along the access road of this yard and shot photos from the car. I wouldn't do it often, get out of the car, or linger and managed to come away with otherwise non accessible subject matter. Speaking of Elkhart, there will be a video of a roll by view from Amtrak's Lake Shore LTD coming soon.
