I won't trade my mopar. But people need to understand that no matter what you drive if it's a performance vehicle your gonna be targeted. Guess what do yourself a favor and install a kill switch, get Car Lock, install a neutral strap delete plate, I built a Titanium plate for my OBD port with Car Lock in so that way nobody can kick it out of the port. Also get a Faraday Pouch and last but certainly not least go getba Concealed Carry and carry that shit. I have a holster for my cup holder. I say fuck around and find out with my Charger. See I have no problem putting someone in the forever box it's why I was a soldier for last decade.

I wouldn't get one at this point with all the problems including the price goughing going on. The trouble of theft and dealing with criminals stealing the car isn't worth my safety. Besides the price of a v8 Challenger I can get two new cars that will not have the very same problems the Dodge V8 has.

Remove the neutral lever and install a steel plate, relocate the obd plug and install a dummy one in the original housing under the dash. Install a kill switch in the ignition and hide it where only you know it is. Yes it can be alot of work, but we have worked hard for our mopars!

I used to have a switch for the fuel pump in my old RX7 and it actually saved my shit from getting stolen. I put a wire to the fusebox with a switch and ran it underneath the dashboard. Put a fuse on the line in its own case. The whole deal took maybe an hour.

The Z Automotive Tazer has a Pin Lock Feature now. When I start my Chrysler 300 the lights on the dash blink until I put in the code on the wheel. If you get it wrong or try to skip it the car locks the breaks and flashes the lights. I am the only one that can drive my car. It even has a CarJack Feature. If the key leaves the car while running, once the key gets back in the car the PIN is required to put it in Drive.

If the car is your daily driver, then having your own garage is becoming a necessity in high population areas. If it's not your daily driver and you don't have a garage, then you need to rent space where it can be kept in a secure location. Also, the latest version of the tazer software has an anti-theft feature where you have enter a sequence of buttons on the steering wheel (kinda like a pin code) right after starting the car. The car will shut off if you don't enter it in a certain time period.
@RTLife
@RTLife Жыл бұрын
When you take the tazer out will it continue working? I like that security feature - will add another layer of protection.
@CTHellcat
@CTHellcat Жыл бұрын
@@RTLife No, the Tazer has to be connected, but in 2018 or later models the Tazer has to go in the trunk with a bypass cable. It won't work in the front obd port because of blocking software dodge added that year. So it can be hidden pretty securely in the trunk.
@YETI_GT_CS
@YETI_GT_CS Жыл бұрын
There is also a new update coming that will lock out the gas pedal and the horn will start going off. Even if the Tazer is removed. Pin lock will still keep the Dodge locked down if removed after you unsuccessfully try and put a pin in and there is a car jack mode if the key leaves the Dodge a countdown starts and when the thief pulls away once he get to 5 mph the brakes lock up and the Dodge will not move. Just to clarify pin lock feature does not turn off your Dodge it engages the ABS system and locks the brakes down to the vehicle cannot move
@CTHellcat
@CTHellcat Жыл бұрын
@@YETI_GT_CS that's awesome info man! Thanks!!! Also wanted to clarify that the trunk/bypass cable option WILL work for earlier model years. It's just in 2018 or later, its the only way to connect Tazer.

Major thing you missed is taking your car to the dealer and have them lock the RF hub so no new keys can be made. That in conjunction with keeping the keys in a Faraday bag stops the vast majority of thefts.
@robertkiell

how does that works?

@Robert Kiell the hub will not accept keys that aren't the EXACT key (or using the exact keys signature), and the Faraday bag will block the signal, making it impossible for anyone to copy your key's RF signature

I’ve heard about rf scanners and people following you in a parking lot. They’ll park close enough to you then wait for you to hit the lock button, the scanner picks up the frequency then they just copy it to a key or have a device emit that same signal and the car thinks it’s you again an boom. Cars gone. Or does that still work anymore.

I hope you're right about that. But the rest of us are selling our cars for a reason. It's just not worth losing your life over it or the lives of your family. You can call us cowards all you want to but here's the deal. And my story and take on the whole situation. I sold my Challenger back in 2020. Cuz I saw all of this coming. I used the money to buy a brand new fully loaded GMC 4 x 4 Denali. And to be honest it has a 6.7 liter V8 just as fast as my old Challenger. But extremely well hidden under the hood. Now having said that. The reputation for The Challengers and chargers in terms of pride of ownership has dropped down to zero. It is not worth losing your life for these cars. And the guy talking about parking your car in the garage will not keep somebody from stealing your car. All it takes is for somebody to follow you home. Break into your home while you're sleeping kill you and and possibly your family and steal your car. You cannot make this car a driver anymore. You can't pull into a gas station are sitting line at a fast food drive-thru. You cannot let it out of your sight anymore. Even if you go on vacation and leave the car in the garage. They still know about your car because you have neighbors. And Money Talks. There's always going to be somebody following you or watching you from afar to get your car. And now that the production will end at the end of this year these thieves will stop at nothing to get a hold of your Challenger or charger. In other words they will kill you for it. In my opinion this is the reason why and not going all the electric is the reason why Dodge has decided to stop making these cars because of law enforcement. Insurance. And the failure to create software that will prevent these cars from being stolen. Now don't get me wrong I miss my Challenger. I miss the power the speed the love of the model itself but I just come to the conclusion that it's just not worth the stress and the worry of owning this car anymore. Maybe one day within the next 10 to 15 years Dodge will reintroduce a new generation. But I don't see that happening anytime soon. So if you're smart and you care about your life and your family. 300's are less likely to get ripped off. I keep ours looking bone stock, no issues with anyone trying to steal it. They would be shot if so. Use a club type steering wheel lock, it will slow thieves down. Hide a kill switch that disables the fuel system. I'd like to see a thief get my '12 Challenger R/T, it is in a locked garage in the back yard surrounded by a 6' perimeter wall and locked gates in the side driveway, and my Suburban is always parked in the driveway, effectively preventing any thieves from getting my stuff. No way to get it out with 5500 lb. of 94 Chevy Suburban 4wd in the way.

One thing also you can do is piggy back shock sensor. As soon as the dodge is hit with something or the glass is broken, the shock sensor activates the factory alarm, and the horn starts going off. It’s extremely loud. My understanding is once the factory alarm is triggered, the vehicle immobilization system takes effect from Dodge. Just the horn going off will have thieves hauling ass and not in your car

For all of those who are trying to introduce firearms into this scenario, you might want to be careful because you could end up dead or in jail depending on the situation. If you're getting car jacked, you might have a better chance of not seeing jail time IF you somehow neutralize the threat while you are being snatched or ordered out of the vehicle, but YOU being hurt increases. If you shoot while they are doing a burnout trying to leave the scene, you will be arrested. If you see your car leaving your driveway regardless if you live in a neighborhood or on a farm and you shoot at the perp...you are going to jail. Deadly force isn't allowed if it's just to protect property as fucked up as it is. I don't want my fellow Mopar owners to get the short end of the stick twice when they thought they were in the right.

Lets talk about the “ security update “ for a second. It has changed. When Dodge first released it, in valet mode yes it limited it to 2.8hp, but a loophole was found. To bypass that limitation, all one had to do was disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and it cleared the setting. Since that loop had been discovered, dodge has since released a new one, removing that “ feature “ or lack there of, and simply locking the fobs to the rf hub. Down side to the rd hub lock, you lose your fobs, you now have to replace not only the fobs, but the hub as well. As to my understanding that does not prevent them from boosting your signal, just prevents the programming of new fobs. ( could be wrong on that one ) As far as the neutral strap cover goes. Do NOT just use the factory screws to put that plate in with. But some security screws, something to make it a little more difficult should a would be thief gain access, and by all means, don’t leave the bit for the screw in the car.. keep it somewhere only you know where it is. A final point I would like to make. Never rely on one line of defense to secure your ride. Go through multiple steps to make it harder for a thief to steal. Pull fuses if you have to, install kill switches if need be, ( yes I said “ switches “ ) be diligent in protecting your investment. It may become a pita to do every time you take the car out, but for peace of mind, it is worth doing your part to make it harder.

Also you have to realize a lot of these cars in the top 10 can be found at your local hood corner or baby mama house just waiting to be stolen. We all can agree those cars are frequent in the hood. Sad cuz when I got my challenger RT back in 2012 you never saw that many on the road and if you did it was a guy with a reputable job and decent credit. Now all they do is steal them and pretend they are buying them legit. I think most people are leaving the mopar world because of the stigma now of chargers and challengers pretty much being the new crown Vic. And don’t get me started on those Altima’s and maximas. Coming from riding nothing but Harley's all my life to driving a Hemi Orange SPWB this cracks me up. Harley's are stolen in the blink of eye. I remember a friend rode theirs to lunch. Four bikers in a pick up truck pulled up behind the bike, got out of the truck, picked up the Harley, threw it in the back of the pickup and they were off. Whole thing took about 15 seconds. Couldn't get out the front door fast enough to catch them. That's why you see Harleys' parked very closed together by a window/door when the rider is having breakfast, lunch or dinner. Parked close together makes them harder to steal. Never rode mine to do errands because if I couldn't see it when I parked it; then, I should not have ridden it. I use this same philosophy when I drive my SPWB. Yep SPWB's are a high on the list for thief. Makes me wonder when I see all the MORPAR's with insanely expensive modifications and have no upgrades for anti thief or new anti theft systems installed. Hell I remember one the boys owning a hot rod in the hood. Every night he'd jack up his ride and take off all four tires and put his ride on jack stands. The car was never stolen.
