So do I copy and paste from my template to a new listing each time? Do you place your new design on your sample group template and printify each time
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Жыл бұрын
Hi! Using this method, for each new listing you create the drafts with the new design in Printify, then copy your listing template in Etsy and enter all the product SKUs, mockups, description, tags, etc. The template listing itself should just stay as a draft on Etsy so that you can copy it each time.

Technically could I create a main listing as normal then just add the SKU's to the other products I want to add? Or do i have to do a custom listing draft like you did? Hope my question made sense.
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can do that! In fact, I made a more recent video showing how to do just that with mugs. I actually do it that way when there are fewer product variants involved. The only thing to be aware of if you're doing it that way with an apparel listing with lots of variants is that when you edit your variants, Etsy will wipe out the variant details that were there - meaning the SKUs, price and quantity might disappear on you, so you'll have to copy/paste all of them anyway. But there's nothing wrong with doing it that way if it works better for you!

Hi! This was extremely helpful. I'm trying to understand how printify will understand the SKU # if the master template isn't synced with printify at all. If I create a listing in etsy and then just list the SKU #'s in the variation, how will it automatically get fulfilled? I also have some products that I ship and ship through printful, so I wanted to make sure it wouldn't get lost in translation. I hope this makes sense, thank you!

Hi, good question. When your Etsy store is integrated with Printify, all the orders that your shop receives are visible to Printify. Printify's platform is looking for a product that matches one you've created in your account on each order. The SKU number helps Printify identify that the order contains an item you created with your Printify account. Please note - this does not automatically fulfill the order, it just means it will show up on your Printify orders page. Orders are only sent to production automatically if you have enabled the automatic fulfillment option in your Printify account - otherwise they still need to be submitted to production manually. I have swapped SKU numbers on my Etsy listings on several occasions and as long as the SKUs I replaced matched with an item I created in Printify, my orders have come through without a problem. Hope that helps!

Thanks for any help u can provide.

Hi! To have the SKU numbers available in the Etsy listing as seen in the video, I published each item to my Etsy shop as a hidden draft from Printify. I never published those listings, only kept them as drafts and published the one listing with all the variants included. You can also get the SKU numbers directly from Printify by going into Edit Listing and expanding the drop-down for each product variant (where you edit the pricing). I just find it easier to publish to Etsy as a draft and copy from there because the SKU numbers are all lined up nicely. Hope that helps!

Hi! To publish as a hidden draft yes, you would click on Publish after checking the option to hide in store. However, since recording this I've found that you can copy the SKU numbers right off the Printify draft without publishing the listing from Printify at all. As long as you have it saved as a draft in your Printify account, all you need is the SKU number that you can get by expanding the variants section in the draft listing and copying the SKUs from there. I hope that helps!

In this video I mention towards the end that Printful doesn't have a similar way of creating combination listings. I was partially wrong! While you cannot create combination listings directly from Printful, you can create a new listing on Etsy first and then sync each product variant in your Printful account. I added a video explaining that process if you use Printful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZDUp3ive9CFjqc

I had to rewatch the video because I’m a little confused on how you list the shipping. If two items have two different shipping costs, what do you make your shipping profile for that listing?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
The best items to combine into the same listing are ones that you either already were planning on doing free shipping for, or that have at least somewhat close shipping costs because you can only have one shipping profile assigned. If you have multiple products combined into one listing that have significant differences in the shipping cost, the safest thing to do is use the shipping profile for the highest cost products. For example if you charge $4 for shipping t-shirts and $7 for shipping hoodies/sweatshirts, use the hoodie/sweatshirt shipping profile. If that makes the shipping charge for the lower-cost items in the listing seem too high, you can always raise the list price of the products a little bit and then back down the shipping charge to prevent abandoned carts (ex: reduce shipping charge by $2 and raise item prices by $2). But ultimately, products that have vastly different shipping costs won't fit well together in the same listing (extreme example: t-shirts and framed posters). Personally, I do free shipping on all apparel items so the cost of shipping for each product is already baked into the price - that sometimes makes the price look less competitive but it sure saves a headache in these situations. I hope that helps!

Hello! Is there any way to make a bundle listing (through Etsy)? For example, a set of 3 prints (each a different design) without editing and adding all the products to the order in printify manually? Thanks!
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Жыл бұрын
Hi! Great question, unfortunately there is not a way to do this that I know of where you don't have to manually edit the order on Printify, at least on Etsy. You definitely can create a listing on Etsy where a bundle/pack is a separate product variant so the customer can buy multiple items packaged together, but there's no way to "tell" Printify that one product variant is actually several separate products. I'm hoping at some point in the future our print on demand platforms will have a feature like this where you can pre-build a bundle as a single variant to automate it. That's something I usually suggest whenever I get the chance to give feedback or take a survey. I do believe you can do this if you sell through a Shopify store because there are other 3rd party apps you can add to create bundle listings that automate on the back end, but sadly it's not available for Etsy currently.

Awesome video! Thanks! I started to set this up and a couple of the vairants are out of stock through my printify supplier. Normally I would just select the product visibility option to show out of stock items as "sold out". How do I manage out of stock items with this set up so people arent making a bunch of orders that can't be fulfilled?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Жыл бұрын
Hi! With Printify, the option to show out of stock variants as "sold out" only impacts the visibility of the variants at the time you publish the listing to your Etsy account. There is no ongoing/subsequent update to the stock status unless you re-publish the listing from Printify. So even if you use that option, you will still have to manually go back into your Etsy listing when the variants are back in stock and update them to show as being available, or republish the stock status from Printify. With a combination listing, if you only have one print provider for a product (or if all providers are out of stock of that variant), then you will need to go into the listing and edit the variant so it cannot be purchased. You can either drop the quantity to 0 which will show it as "sold out" or you can use the orange toggle button to turn it off, which will hide that variant in the listing. When back in stock, you will need to update the listing again. I personally don't update the stock status of apparel variants unless all print providers are out of stock - I move fulfillment for individual orders to a different provider if my normal provider is out of stock, this way I don't have to edit my listings all the time. But occasionally there is an extended issue with a product and I do update the listing to remove the variant(s) until they are available again. I hope that helps!

Hi! You can just keep the drafts on Printify, in fact, that is what I do now that I figured out you can view the whole SKU number in the printify draft easily by resizing the browser window. If you make it more narrow, the view changes and you will get a clean view of the SKU numbers for each color/size variant so you can copy them into the Etsy listing.

So still I cant make a listing with two products from Printify. If I want, for example, to sell a set of 3 Posters. Its only possible to create variations but not combinig listings?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Жыл бұрын
Hi! You can create a "set" or bundle of products with a single variant, however there is no way (currently at least) have that sync to your Printify account. Printify products are set up to be one product variant per SKU. So there's no way to tell Printify that one SKU actually equals multiple products. You can create a custom variant in your Etsy listing to be "Set of 3 Posters" with your desired price, but you will need to manually import the order on Printify from your "other orders" tab and add the correct products to it. So it's possible, but requires manual work to fulfill the orders.

When making the printify draft, you checked to show all variants available- does this change to just showing only in-stock options when it's published on etsy? Or is that another step that needs to be done?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I publish all variants because if an order comes through for an out of stock variant, I just have a different print provider fulfill the order. Even if you do the option to only publish the in-stock variants, unfortunately you still have to manually update your Etsy listing when they are back in stock. Printify does not have a continuous 2-way sync with your Etsy account like Printful does, so once you publish the listing you either have to re-publish to update stock status or just go into the Etsy listing and manually enable those variants. Personally I find it easier to just display all of them from the start and then have another provider fulfill an order if I get one for an out of stock item. I hope that helps!

Correct, you would create each product draft in Printify first with the different designs, and then copy the SKUs for each of them into the Etsy listing so they are all available in the same listing. To create the variants for them, you can add the design name into one of the existing variants like the color. For example, instead of one "Black" color, you would create 3 of them, one for each design option: Black - Design 1, Black - Design 2, Black - Design 3. If you do that for each color, you'll have an option for each color/design and size.

Hi! If you receive an order for an out of stock variant, you can change the print provider for that order to someone who has it in stock. If something is going to be out of stock for an extended period of time, you can disable that variant in the listing after creating it until it's available again. It depends on the item but with apparel there is usually another print provider that has the variant available to fulfill the order.

Hi! Yes, for the shipping profile you will have to use just one origin zip code. I actually use Monster Digital for most of my t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies now so in a combo listing with those products it will be the same provider. But if I do use different providers, I just use the zip code for the provider that is most centrally located in the US. Etsy uses the origin zip along with the shipping method and the customer's location to estimate the delivery date. If the origin zip is located roughly in the central US, then if the real origin zip is more East or West it won't add a significant number of days to the delivery time, and in my experience it doesn't seem to have much impact on customer service. I've changed print providers for products at various times and haven't bothered to update the origin zip code on some of my shipping profiles, and customers have not noticed or asked questions about where the shipment came from. I hope that helps!

In your variations in the Etsy listing, you should have two variants - one for color, one for size, and for both of them you should have the boxes checked off for prices, quantity, and SKU all vary. If you have them all checked off for both variants, it should give you a separate line for each color and size combination.

Hi! You only need to keep the draft listings in your Printify account after creating the combination listing. Any drafts in your Etsy account can be deleted and it will not impact your Printify account. The only reason to keep and publish the drafts in your Etsy shop would be if you also want each product to be listed separately in addition to the combination listing, which you absolutely could do if you want to!

In multiple product type lists, is it affected if the availability in printify is updated, or do we have to manually check the availability?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Good question and there's a few things to consider here. Printify does not have a continuous back & forth sync with your Etsy account like Printful does. When you first publish a listing, Printify gives you the option to display only the in-stock variants or all variants for the products. If you choose to display only in-stock products, the stock status will not automatically update when the out of stock variants are back in stock. You have to re-publish the listing from your Printify account in order to update the stock status of the variants. Because of this, I personally do not publish that way - I publish showing all variants and then I just swap orders for a different print provider if a variant is out of stock rather than constantly re-publish the listings. Now to answer your question - with product variants from multiple listings combined into one listing, you won't be able to update the stock status by re-publishing the listing from your Printify account. To update the stock status of variants, if you want to mark some as out of stock, you would need to edit that directly in the Etsy listing. The combination listing does't "break" anything with Printify since there is no automatic sync of your listings, but it does impact your ability to republish the listing from Printify since multiple are combined in one listing. I hope that made sense!

Hi! You essentially have 3 options for shipping with combination listings: 1. Free shipping - easiest for you in terms of setting up the shipping profile. You build the cost of shipping into the prices of each item, so no matter what product the customer purchases you are collecting the correct amount. This can, however, push up your prices to the point of looking less competitive. But one upside is that Etsy always shows the lowest priced item in search results so customers will already be in your listing before they see prices for the more expensive products like hoodies. 2. Charge the highest amount and adjust prices - Set your shipping charge to $8 to cover shipping for the sweatshirts/hoodies. Then reduce the price of your t-shirts by $3 because it only costs $5 to ship the t-shirts. 3. Balance the shipping & product prices - this is like #2 but instead of charging $8, you charge a more "reasonable" average price for shipping, say $6. Then you subtract $1 from your t-shirt prices, and add $2 to your sweatshirt prices to balance out their costs with the shipping price. Same result as #2 but the product & shipping prices might appear a little more reasonable. I hope that helps!

Hi! After publishing to Etsy with the "hide in store" option, you can find it in your Etsy account under the Draft listings. If you go into your listing view, look on the right side of that screen and you should see radio buttons for "listing status". Select "Draft" and you should find the un-published listing so you can find the SKU numbers. I hope that helps!

Hi! I do have a few separate videos all about shipping for Etsy. Here's the main one about setting up shipping profiles: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ_LlKukr9Khg8k The only thing specific to these combination listings with shipping is that you want to avoid combining products that have very different shipping costs because you can only have one shipping profile assigned to each listing. It's best for products that have the same or similar shipping costs since you will only be able to set one shipping price (or do free shipping and build the cost into the product prices). I hope that helps!

If you add two variations 1 size and 1 color do you have to put the sku into both variation options? How is it linked?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! When you add two variant categories (size & color) and check the box "SKU varies" for both of them, then the Etsy listing will have a SKU number field for every separate variation of size & color, which is what you need for orders to sync to your Printify account. The SKU number is linked to one variant in your Printify account so it will match when an order is placed.

Hi Jeff, Thanks For Another Great Video. Had one question for you- what if customer buys two different t-shirts from two different listing from your store which is fulfilled by Printful. will Printful charge us shipping for both individually or we get shipping discount for additional t-shirt.?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights Жыл бұрын
Hi! As long as the products come through in the same order, Printful does some unique shipping calculations that can be a little hard to predict (though it's in our favor so I shouldn't complain) and I've seen a couple different scenarios on orders. If the products are the same, say both Gildan 5000 t-shirts, then you will get the "additional item" shipping rate for the second item. If the products are different but they're still in the same shipping category, you still get the "additional item" shipping rate - for example that would be like a Gildan 5000 t-shirt and a Bella+Canvas t-shirt in the same order. If your order has different product types in it, you would think that you'd pay the "first item" price for each, but that's not always the case. Printful seems to do some type of calculation based on whether they can package the products together (I'm just guessing). For example, I created a test order for a t-shirt (shipping price $3.99) and a hoodie (shipping price $7.99). That should cost $11.98 for shipping because they're in different product categories. But the shipping charge on the order was only $9.99. Printify absolutely will charge you the full price in that scenario - but it seems Printful is giving you a better rate when they can. As long as you built the "first item" price into your product prices or charged that rate, then you get a little extra profit on occasion.

I seem to be doing something wrong. I saved drafts for the same design on a pillow and pillow case. I want to list them both as options in one Etsy listing. I hid both in Printify and published to Etsy which saved as drafts. The problem I’m having is that when I open and edit the Etsy listing for the pillow, and I then add as a variation the pillow cover. But then under Variations the pillow size is listed next to the cover only option. The 14” pillow lists 4 options for pillow cover - 14” thru 20” as if I’m offering the pillow with an additional cover. That’s not what I want. I simply want to offer the pillow OR the cover in one listing. What am I doing wrong? As always, thanks so much for your help.

Just so I understand - publishing to your Etsy store as a hidden listing gives you the SKU, where as if you just "saved as draft" in printify and did not actually publish you would not get the SKU?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, I have an update on that! The SKU numbers are present in your Printify drafts, but they usually are a truncated/cutoff view where you can't highlight the whole thing to copy it. That's why I always published the drafts as hidden in order to copy the SKU numbers. BUT I recently discovered if you go into the "edit listing" view in your Printify account, and then resize the browser window to make it really narrow, suddenly it changes the view where you can look at the color variants for each size and the full SKU number is visible! So you can have that window open next to your etsy listing and copy/paste right from Printify without publishing them as hidden drafts. Here's a super quick short of what that looks like: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZzamHhqop6prpI

Hi! The easiest way to change this is to select one of your shipping profiles and rename it to be the one you want to use for a group of listings (like all t-shirts for example). Then use the bulk edit feature on your listings page to select all the listings you want to assign to that shipping profile and use the edit option to assign the profile. If you only need a few shipping profiles by product category, this shouldn't take you too long if you use the bulk edit feature. @PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! You can use the same method to create a mug listing with different size options, it's actually less work than doing it for apparel because there are fewer variants. You can actually just publish one of the mug sizes from Printify as your listing, and then go into the variants and create a size variant for 11oz and 15oz, then copy/paste the SKUs from your Printify account. You just need to have a draft listing of the other size in your Printify account to get the SKU. I definitely agree offering multiple mug sizes in the same listing is a great way to sell them!

Can you do this with different designs with Printify? I'm trying to make a group listing for a family for Halloween, so I have a different design for the mother, father, and a child. I want to offer the same brand shirt for the parents then a bodysuit option for an infant then a toddler shirt and youth option for the kids. I have 3 different designs total. Is this possible?
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, you can use this method to offer different designs in the same listing as well. You can create separate draft listings with your different designs, and then add those variants and SKUs to the listing. I would suggest keeping the different product variants in the "size" variant list and then add the design choices into the color variant list. So your drop-down for size would show all the different sizes and product choices, and the color drop-down would show the color and design choices. Essentially you're having them make 2 choices within each one. You'll have to copy/paste a pretty good number of SKUs to do this, but it definitely can be done. I hope that made sense!

Hi! This was a very helpful video. Question-I like the Out-of-Stock method, so it will help let the customer know that color for a certain size is out of stock. Is there a way to do a multiple listing, copy/paste sku's and it show out of stock on Esty? Just trying to figure a way to save time in the 4th Q, when hopefully more orders are coming in, but I know on the Printify side, risking out of stock color variants. On the fence about listing multiple items in a listing, because of this.
@PODinsights
@PODinsights 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! You can use the "disable" option within your listing variants on Etsy to not show any out of stock variants after creating the variants and pasting-in all the SKUs. You cannot, however, use Printify's re-publish functionality to update the stock status for a combination listing. It's important to point out that Printify does not do this automatically for you on any listings - if you publish with the "in stock" option, it will not automatically update the stock status when that changes in the future. You have to manually re-publish the listing in order to update the stock status, so it does not help you catch something that is out of stock before an order comes in. That's why I personally don't use that option, because I still would have to re-publish every time there is a stock update and I find it easier to just toggle variants on/off in the Etsy listing. When I get an order for an item that is out of stock with my primary print provider, I edit the order to have that item fulfilled by another provider. If it's one item in an order for several items that can be annoying, but it still gets the order fulfilled. I hope that helps!

@@carolelliott3336 Sure thing! It can be confusing because if you've used Printful before, it works differently. Hi! If you have the drafts still on Etsy, yes you can delete those. But you need to keep the Printify drafts so that the SKU numbers will be matched up when an order comes in - as long as they are there in Printify, you can delete the Etsy drafts. I hope that helps! I also discovered since making this video that you can actually double-click on the SKU number in Printify even if it looks like part of it is hidden and copy it, and it will copy the whole thing. So you actually don't even need to publish your products to Etsy, you can just save them as drafts in Printify and copy the SKUs from there if you want to skip that step.
