Very seldom does it get 120° the highest temperatures will be in June and first part of July with dryheat. With the monsoon season July through August the temperatures drop but the humidity rises. I’ve been here since 1982 in the southern desert and worked outside most of my career as a mobile mechanic but you learn to structure your day to do your outside work in the morning hours, cause at 6:00am the temperature can be 90° in June. I don’t know why this guy’s wife doesn’t want to be here when she’s not working outside the home. We raised four kids in Arizona and three of them are still here with their own families.

I moved from Kentucky to Oro Valley 3yrs ago, do not regret it at all. Kentucky is pretty only 6mos out of the year, that's just the look not the weather. Let me explain, from October to late April it's brown and dead looking because the plants go dormant from the cold. The other 6mos are green and pretty, but it rains at least 3 to 4 days a week, literally twice as much a year as Seattle lol. The ground so wet it's like walking on a sponge. The winters can be brutal, -20 degrees windchills, the Summers can be 115 to 120 with the heat index. So I'm fine with the heat which is not as bad as Kentucky to me. You can't get away from the humidity even in the shade back east. Here in Southern Az the weather is awesome almost the whole year, plus there are 9000ft mountains next to us to see snow, and come back down to 70 when you get tired of it. To each his own. Good luck and enjoy life, it's short 😎

In Arizona I remember as a kid running through the sprinklers, getting soaking wet, and even my long, thick, curly hair was dry in ten minutes. Temperatures of 100 to 120, six months out of the year, and the only place with AC back then (the 50s) were the stores. We'd go in the stores while walking home from school, just to cool off along the way. So, yah, Arizona is hot and always has been. It's a desert. Leaving your support system might not be a good thing. I made that mistake once (Denver) and moved back. It was a very expensive lesson. But, everyone is different so good luck and hope you do love your new home.

We had aerators on our giant pool yet still very warm, lemon trees & lush backyard near a park. Now, living west coast Florida 22 years in a gated 55 + community. Air like velvet, less dangerous, less crowded. Just remember you sit in a sauna but you don’t sit in an oven. Phoenix heat awful. My father summed it up on a visit from Massachusetts in August. I also wanted to moved out of Phoenix because of that unfair heat weather. And not only that, I also hate Phoenix because the neighborhoods. Especially Maryvale. The reason why Maryvale may suck is the neighbors. They stare at me, they yell or sometimes they even try to be your boss which seems annoying. Another two reasons why I hate phoenix is because I struggle to get friends, I feel like I'm the dumbest person in this city because I don't really communicate with no one because of the extreme shyness. Also I remember that I was the most bullied student in 7th grade. Also my family seems to act like if I wasn't even human. I feel like I wasn't even a skilled person in Phoenix because I didn't dare to join clubs in school. The reason why I didn't join any club in school because I feel like I was just a noob like i was never going to be able to practice even if I was focusing. Sometimes I was the wrong one. I remember that I used to take my dog out without the leash and so that's the only reason I agree why are the neighbors getting scared. And one more reason why we hate Phoenix is because we're one of the most stressed out families in Phoenix Arizona. and again because the hot weather doesn't even let me take a walk at the noon. I feel like I'm locked in the house for the whole day because of the hot weather, The neighbors who yell me for everything for little to no reason, and the pandemic that also sucked here because there was nowhere to at least cool down such and pool or stuff.

115° isn’t for everyone. But honestly it’s getting better in terms of public transit, nightlife etc. and we are a short drive away from California. I’ve really grown to love Arizona but the heat is soooo brutal. Get a car with remote start, this will be a wise investment even if you take the bus! On days I take the bus I will open my cars app when I’m a few stops away, and start it. Boom cold bus to cold car to cold home. Also useful for the grocery store. I love this state but the heat I don’t know how much I can take. I only have these unfortunately expensive workarounds.

My wife is from Idaho and I’m from Southern California. I lived in Idaho for four years and believe me the winters are long and cold. Housing prices have been driven so high by people like you moving there. The cost of housing has been driven higher than what the average Idaho worker can afford. If and when the housing bubble bursts you better like living there and you better like the house you buy.
@kassie44262 жыл бұрын
Housing prices are high for multiple reasons... Shortages on wood and other things to build houses, inflation, and Millennials who make up the majority in the US are leaving cities and flocking to cheaper places because they want to buy houses. I'm from southern California too and everyone keeps saying how its all our fault but like I stated there's multiple reasons as to why the prices on homes are sky high.
@dh23922 жыл бұрын
Agreed. After watching it snow May 1st many years ago in Coeur d' Alene I said to myself, I have to get out of here. At that time jobs didn't pay shit, and I suspect they still don't. Even healthcare wasn't common. And here's the thing many may not think about. Your income in your working years affects your social security in retirement. So it affects your entire life. I moved away to an area where I could make much more money, and as a result I will also receive much more social security.
@dh23922 жыл бұрын
@@kassie4426 but a lot of it is the fault of Californians, and I say that as someone who grew up there. California has some of the highest housing costs in the nation, so a Californian can sell their home, move to another State almost guaranteed to have lower housing prices, and they can pay cash, even bid up homes they really want, often far above what locals can afford. Too many expats in areas of Mexico for example have done the same thing, drive up rents, and home prices because they have more money than the local people do.
@kassie44262 жыл бұрын
@@dh2392 And how do you think California got to be so expensive? Everyone from other states and other countries came here in huge numbers for years. I understand that California is playing a part in AZ home prices rising, but that's because Californians can't afford it here because everyone else drove up our price of living. There's a lot of factors as to why Arizona is becoming expensive. California is just a fraction. People from all over the US are moving to Arizona because the majority of the country are Millennials who can't afford homes. Inflation is another problem. Houses are expensive everywhere right now. The snowbirds are also a problem since they buy second homes in Arizona.
@dh23922 жыл бұрын
@@kassie4426 as far back as I can remember, California has always had some of the highest housing costs in the US. Why? The weather of course. Everyone is arguing about how the summers here ARE doable. I’ve been here since 78, through floods, record breaking temps, and the heat is way too much! Dry heat makes it worse in my opinion, because you can’t even breathe. A pool may make it better, but getting in that car when it’s been in the sun? Running errands….especially with things closing earlier and earlier.Bottom line, everyone is different and each can tolerate different things. I’m ready for four seasons, some more rain, a bit of snow myself. Our whole family moved here from back east in 78/79. They’re all gone now, we made it work with a pool. If you’re lucky enough to live in Prescott or flag, you can definitely tolerate summers but it’s impossible to find something these days in those areas. Wishing them luck and hoping I can maybe move there with my son as well! P.S. Az in winter is amazing, like he mentioned, there’s plenty of awesome things here…the heat just gets to some after awhile…

The move went well! Winter is coming to a steady end and spring is starting to show up as we see the temps starting to reach into the 50s and 60s. It was so nice to have a real winter this year: it snowed the day before Thanksgiving giving us the real holiday feel and Christmas actually felt like a winter holiday for the first time in a long time! Most people in Idaho actually put up Christmas lights compared to barely anybody in Arizona. We snowshoed a bunch, Brady snowboarded for the first time at 12 months old and even went on a bunch of bike rides. Even on the coldest and snowiest days this winter, we were able to get out and go for walks and enjoy the weather. We were never able to enjoy the worst days in Arizona! And for anyone complaining about shoveling snow, I did it once....just once.

It is all a state of mind. My transplant friend was a white guy living around all Mexicans , he just never fit in no matter how open he was. He was here all alone with his girlfriend, they had no friends, no family no roots in Arizona all they came with was a pipe dream. I’m glad my buddy decided to go back home to New Jersey, he is much happier now and looks more calm, I miss him but I would rather him him work on himself were he’s from then in some foreign town with Mexicans who he never lived with . You should visit in June or July before you commit to moving here. It’s a whole different world than in February. I love it here but you have to be tough to ride out the triple digit summer temps!

Sorry, video made me laugh, we moved to Casa Grande in April. Lived in Boise, born in Mtn. Home, hated it. Lived in Denver, Aurora, hated it. Spent most of my life in Cheyenne Wy oh Wyoming. Hated it. Love AZ, the heat is brutal but nothing compared to 40mph winds with snow. That wind chill gets in your bones and you are reminded that you are getting older every year. Someday I will leave AZ and you never know it might be Wyoming again or FL or Saint Croix, lol

The temperature in Aruba never gets below 80 degrees! I’m sure that it would apply to the other Islands nearby.

Your house is beautiful. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision to make. I'm surprised at all the negative comments. Looking forward to watching your videos from Idaho!

Best of luck to you! I love Arizona because it’s my home state and I love visiting my family there, it truly is a wonderful place…but I haven’t lived there in 15 years. It’s not for everyone. Hope Idaho is a better fit for you and your family.

Great video. Hope you are enjoying Idaho. I have heard a lot of good things about it up there. I want to visit the eastern part. I use to live on the east side of the valley of the sun and greatly miss it. I call Arizona my second home. We truly had a great time living there. So much to do in Arizona, nice weather. I do not like the cold and love the heat.

My wife and i have considered moving from CA to AZ. But we have kids and summer in AZ is very hard on Kids. Kids need to be outside. Also AZ has gotten expensive. Average home is now $500k. We may still retire to AZ when we get older.
@ActiveDad3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the age of the kids I think. I have friends with kids aged 5-10 and they don't care about the heat at all. They are out on their scooters in 110 degrees but it's not possible with babies and especially newborns with fair skin. Arizona has gotten quite expensive but there are many states that have seen a large increase in home equity over the last 1-2 years.

Arizona is still less expensive than California in housing and a lot of other ways. We moved her last SUMMER (must have been crazy) and so far I am loving it. 500K would be a fabulous home.

I think it all depends on what you want. I raised my baby happily here. we THRIVE in 100 plus temps! It'll improve once Doug Douchey is ousted in 2022. I hate below 80 degrees! Flip flops for life! Good luck!

You left a fantastic beautiful piece of property most people can only dream about. There is a reason Idaho has never grown. I don't get this love affair with Idaho that had recently happening. Some people have to go over the border into Washington. I remember when everyone was rushing to Seattle and Portland. That got ideally old when depression set in from the rain and gloomy days. I knew a lot of ones that moved there. There is snow everywhere. Up there work may be hard to find too but maybe you won't have to work with the money you got from that gorgeous piece of Arizona property. Sounds like you are a kid in a candy store with all that snow. Enjoy it why you are still young and able to shovel it. Life is short and you are blessed to be able to live where you want😁👍🏼

Ever heard of a snowblower? Canadians deal with long winters every year. I don't think Americans are much weaker.
@kimhicks47813 жыл бұрын
@@leeham6230 Did you ever here of Canadian Snow Birds who Rush to American warm States in the winter if they can afford it. Probably a lot more would like to come but because of the expense and other reasons they can't. Just the other day I heard Florida a were complaining when the Canadian come rushing in they raise the price of the golf course and it gets so crowded they rarely can get on the golf course. I grew up in the bone chilling cold Snow and rain. I couldn't wait to grow up and move somewhere warm and I did and I never looked back. Eventually my family followed me. Life is precious and short. I don't want to spend one moment digging my car out of snow in freezing wind. Good for you and all the strong people who love to do it.. I'll just stay in the sunshine where I love it 😁

I have the best of both worlds. I live in North Idaho eight months out of the year and travel down to Phoenix during the winter months. I live in both places and prefer North Idaho. Less traffic, smaller population and less crime and less homeless people running around. With Biden opening up the southern border, he’s looking to destroy Arizona and Texas. Not sure how many more winters I will be able to go down there because of what the idiots are doing that are running this country now.

@@BANDIT2DAY Right. From the border they scatter everywhere. Don't get why they are doing this. Especially when some have Covid. In Brownsville they tested just over 1000 and just over 100 tested positive that was released in their community. Heard on Fox news the other day.
