Farmers are the backbone of Ireland, the governments should put their shoulders behind these hard working men and women. without farmers we have no food.

Mate You should consider moving to France or Oz etc.. I know you are feeling down but remember this could also be viewed as the biggest opportunity of your life! For the last 20 years you have been rooted to a specific place and suddenly there’s an opportunity for YOU to decide where you go! Property in France especially farms can be had for a fraction of the cost and the weather alone would make family life better!

Hi there, I just came across your channel on my homepage tonight. I really feel your pain as we have just come through the exact same thing. Father ran up a debt, then decided to divorce my mother, who then moved in with us. My wife and myself were renting the farm from my father but unfortunately, We were forced to move out of the farmhouse which i had grown up in, and now also lived in with my wife and 2 kids for the past 5 years. We also had to sell 20 acres of productive arable ground to a local veg grower. Luckily for us we were able to take a farmhouse and a bit of grazing gound where my wife grew up and hold onto the steading and most of the ground at home. It's only 16 miles between the 2 holdings so it does work. My heart goes out to you all as I know how you must be feeling, all I can say is keep fighting on, hard work and determination pays off in the end. All the very best of luck to you and your family mate, I really hope 2025 is a better year to you all.

Thank you very much for sharing your story, very similar unfortunately there is lots of us. I’m glad you’ve been able to get your situation sorted and totally understand how it will have drained you. I wish you and your family all the health and happiness and a fantastic 2025
@WilliamPatrick-j2xКүн бұрын
@AMfarming1 it wasn't easy, and believe me, there were a lot of tears during the whole thing, which seemed to take forever. We were lucky that part of my mothers divorce settlement was that the farm or what was left of it was to passed to my wife and myself. We explored every avenue available to us. At one point we were going to buy dads debt but that would have put us in debt for years to come. Sadly the decision to sell the field and farmhouse was the right one, we're off and running now debt free. We've come to the conclusion that less is more. Again my very best wishes to you all, keep pushing forward and both me and the wife will watch for your continued progress 🥃🥃

My goals and aspirations for life are to one day buy and start a small holding farm business, it might seem insensitive but this new tax system might help people like me who have not come from a farming family. In reality farms are very expensive but the price will drop if there is a saturated market.
@AMfarming114 сағат бұрын
I hope you can realise that dream, it is not insensitive. That is the major issue farms are soo expensive in comparison to the return on investment that it is extremely hard to get into. But believe me some of the best farmers I know today in there 60’s are first generation farmers. They had/have an open mind not blinkered by how it’s always been done. There is opportunity there an I hope you can take it. Best of luck

Onwards and upwards families are bastards for trying to stop you farming and put you down at times it usually makes you stronger and more successful. You will look back in future and be glad you are truly your own boss and making fully your own decisions. Keep up with KZbin its the ones that say don’t waste your time that shouldn’t waste their breath and just find a hole to go lay in

Families can drain everything you’ve got mentally and financially, sometimes the hardest but best decision is to remove yourself from the situation. Sinks and radiators…

@@AMfarming1definitely I remember well in my college days my uncle pulling the trigger and freezing the accounts and near on looking to sell everything, it was a tough start I had rubbish kitt no money half the farm but with some hellish resilience I now have a farm three times the size and with a fleet of fendts which were my dream and farm with my brother and by heck do we get shit done. Also people tend to respect you more when you earn it yourself rather than inherit everything on a plate. Even if you have to work on other peoples farms for extra money you can always find a way in farming and ask local old boys for some help to get ground and sheds. As for the uncle he lost all the rented ground his guy he had farming the rest went bust and he now doesn’t really farm bar some pigs.
@Agri-Farm-UK2 күн бұрын
@@AMfarming1also if you listen to the sound of someone else’s drum it can waste your whole life and potential I some of my dads friends their dad never gives hold of the reins and by the time they do they are old and it’s to late
@AMfarming12 күн бұрын
That’s one of the biggest problems in farming, no succession plans, and the best years of persons life are wasted waiting on the one day it’ll all be yours. Your story is excellent example of what can be done with hard work and determination 👏🏼

Thats because you have never worked yer fingers to the bone in all weather's. Il go as far as saying you don't run a business full stop, a million quid in farming isn't a huge amount.
