How many pantorouters does it come with?

You could scavenge a few otters from that river and use them to carve tenons in 2x4's, no need to spend $18 on pantorouter plans...

Oh, mein Herz blutet.

Nice tour, hope the sale goes well, beautiful piece of countryside. You forgot to mention it's essentially a beautiful suburb of Ottawa for anyone in the tech, nfp, or public sector! I had a coworker who traded the use of his fields for beef, pork and chicken from a farmer. He never had to buy meat. Bet you could grow a nice big garden somewhere by the house too. Also lots of artists and studio tours out that way!

like many of your followers I am deeply saddened that I will be deprived of the little slices of ingenuity you've shared with us from what has been such an idilic setting and one to which many of us no doubt aspire to. I'm sure we're all united in wishing you the speediest of recoveries so that your productivity can return to similar levels to those we've enjoyed in the past although in a setting more to the needs of yourself and your family.

@thebeststooge6 жыл бұрын
Precisely. As you get older our bodies begin to fail until that much land is just too much. My mother is 74 and her small parcel of USA city life is now too much for her with other things in her life. At 84 she will not be able to do much of anything in the yard so I understand Matthias' decision very well. Basically it is just too much time to keep up right and the older you get the less you can do.
@user932376 жыл бұрын
I heard from a ~50 hectares landowner that you need to start young because it's just so much work. Maximum age to start such a lifestyle is 30, maybe 35, because you're going to need so much physical and mental energy for construction and maintenance… people tend to underestimate that. On the main channel Matthias said that in the winter you cannot walk anywhere (presumably because of the snow?). Life can be quite lonely on the countryside, especially for wife and kids.
@TheCapturetheBomb6 жыл бұрын
Not only what Roberto Ghezzi said, but they are also moving 100's of miles away to be closer to his wife's family and consolidating down to a single property. He hasn't been able to make it out to the farm as often as he'd like, so it'd be much easier to buy a place where he could have everything readily available.
@GGov866 жыл бұрын
You do know they live full time on this property now, right? Matthias sold the other house ages ago.

I live on a piece of land about 1/5th that size, that land alone costs around 900.000 euros here in the Netherlands... your land with such a nice river running by it would be worth a ton here.

Damn. Riverfront property is my dream, and it’s not far from my parents’ cottage. Looking at the aerial view, it looks like you could paddle downstream all the way to Arnprior with 2, maybe 3 short portages? Sorry you’ve got to let this piece of land go, although I entirely understand why you’ve decided it’s impractical for you and your family. Best of luck with the sale and the move, and I’m looking forward to videos about your discovery and building of your new home and shop in Fredericton.

Wow! 45N and I feel chilly down here at 42N. Really, lovely property. How much maintenance can there be, besides house, workshop and garage? Is not much of the property rented out to a local farmer? If so, the rest is no more work that 1 or 2 acres of mowing and snow removal. The house itself seems in good condition so nothing major there.
