i would agree using variation listings sparingly is important but I do think they are a great tool. when looking at analytics i get a significant amount more impressions on those listings. now that could be because they are more broad listings im not sure. the one think i do really like about variation listings is like for base cards and super low value $1-2 in the same category. buyers gravitate to then when they are looking for more then one card because of combined shipping for me and the buyer dont have to get from multiple sellers small items but also just can move alot more and spread out the fee's a bit on low value sales. great video

For sure, great point. A lot of the variation listings get more traffic because they can show up in search results for any of the players/set in the list, so they can get more traffic. Thanks for watching and for the sub! Happy collecting!

Great info. Trying to decide when it is time to create a storefront vs my eBay page

Thanks. What do you mean by storefront, like your own website?
@redbrickrips
@redbrickrips 23 күн бұрын
@@CardZooSportsCards Not my own website, but a store in eBay. I'm selling on my user id listing vs having a store like you do. I haven't looked at cost impacts/advantages/disadvantages to that yet. I've only been doing this for a week or so and I'm just looking ahead.

Gotcha. Honestly, when you exceed the listings amount for the free version then that’s when it’s time in my opinion. Yeah there’s benefits to having a “storefront” but for $22/months currently with the cheapest option they offer, I wouldn’t do it until you have too many listings and need to avoid insertion fees. Plus keeping it small while just starting out helps you focus more on trying to add the right inventory and not just adding cards for the sake of having more inventory. Hope that helps!

Good info, do you ever buy raw and then grade to flip?
@CardZooSportsCards
@CardZooSportsCards 6 ай бұрын
No but I’m slowly venturing into that. I just graded my first card but hasn’t had a ton of interest on ebay (was an SGC 9) and I have 20 or so more I want to grade. Once I see how the market reacts to those then I’ll probably have a better idea of how easily I can flip ungraded singles and sell them after grading. Always risky bc you don’t know what grade you’ll get and that has a big impact on if the market will buy it and for how much. But in general I think it can be profitable with the right players, sets, and a good grade. Thanks for watching!

how would you suggest getting your first sale? as a buyer i always look at seller rating but need the first sales for that lol
@CardZooSportsCards
@CardZooSportsCards 5 ай бұрын
It's tough! I don't think I did anything special if I remember correctly other than just listing some cards I thought would sell. I think I had ratings from when I used to use eBay for books and other things, so I probably had a head start there. If you're just looking to get a good rating might have to sell a card a little below market just to get a sale - but if you have some decently priced cards in your store one should sell eventually! Make sure, if you have any listings that potential buyers are watching in their watchlist that you send eligible offers - that's one way, new or not - to get sales. Good luck!

Do you feel not offering returns is worth giving up the Top seller plus discounts ? Unless I’m wrong you need to offer free returns . Also what scanner ya use ? Thanks for the tips …
@CardZooSportsCards
@CardZooSportsCards 5 ай бұрын
Yeah I've gone back and forth on that honestly (offering/not offering returns). I've always not offered returns - by the simple fact that I know there a buyers out there who return a lot of cards because they are hoping for a NM-MT card and either didn't look at the listing photo, or just didn't like it once they held it. It's time consuming enough to ship out the cards without returns..dealing with returns would be an entire other piece (and cost) to add in a razor thin profit margin industry to low-end cards. Ultimately, I can see trying it for a bit to see gauge the return % - and if it's low - take advantage of the discount like you said, but for now going to stay without it. I use the Epson ES 400-II www.amazon.com/Epson-Workforce-ES-400-II-Adjustment/dp/B08P3YVH3X?th=1. Thanks for watching!

Without paying for a subscription, does eBay limit the amount of listings you can have?
@CardZooSportsCards
@CardZooSportsCards 3 ай бұрын
They do. I wanna say it’s around 1,000 or so. If you’re just starting out it’s usually enough to get things rolling and figured out. I have the basic store subscription (currently $21.95 usd/month) but I went with the free option for a while. Good luck.

Question, how do you advertise cards like die cuts that have one edge slightly indented? I have case hit purdy but one corner is not perfect although it is hard to tell in a case. Should i just discount the card, take a picture, and also describe it?
@CardZooSportsCards
@CardZooSportsCards 5 ай бұрын
Different people will tell you different things. I often list the card and put something like "Edge Damage, REDUCED PRICE." and list it a little cheaper than what market is paying. Some sellers don't like this but I do it. I had one seller message me once when I did this saying "I was ruining the hobby" but just ignore them if that happens. You definitely want to make sure your picture shows the damage clearly and that your honest about it in your description. Not every collector wants a Gem-MT 10 card for grading purposes, and some are okay with having an "Ok" version as part of a larger collection. You could also send to upper deck to replace, but you wouldn't be guaranteed the same card (it's always something like, "we will send you a replacement that is of equal value") or something like that. Plus it take's a million years. Hope this helps - always being honest about any cards condition is the best for long-term success. Happy Collecting and please consider checking out the ebay store for your next purchase www.ebay.com/str/cardsellz88

@@CardZooSportsCards exactly be as open and honest as possible. your reputation is everything in this hobby. If I know there is a certain defect on the card I always do my best to take a close up pic of the defect and note it in the description. A lot of die cuts have dented edges just cuz of the nature of the card so many buyers prob are okay with that

@@SamuelJ888 Exactly! Sucks when it happens as the seller but unfortunately not every card is NM-MT. I've had some that were so bad I couldn't even list. Thanks for watching.

You just list the best picture of the damage you can, and include a short and sweet description of the damage in the description section. Do not minimize the damage and do not drone on about it either. State it quick and move past it. Yes, youll have to ask a lower price for a easily visible damaged card. It's really not a big deal. Any collector thats been in the hobby for over 6 months knows good and well how quality control works from Panini which most cards come from... not your fault, its just a thing.

What do you recommend for shipping multiple top loaders? I had a buyer purchase 4 cards from the same listing that I want to ship in too loaders but I know regulations for eBay standard envelope only say 2 too loaders per envelope
@CardZooSportsCards
@CardZooSportsCards 5 ай бұрын
Great question. What a lot of sellers do is buy thicker top loaders for multiple card orders, some of which you can fit three or four cards in there. I probably wouldn’t go over four cards depending on the type of card because your envelope will be too thick if you’re shipping in a plain white envelope. Essentially, not every card has to be in its own top loader. Put every card in its own sleeve and then all the cards in the thicker top loader. Still use a team bag and then put in the envelope. Be forewarned that some buyers will leave you negative feedback for doing this at some point, but rest assured, it’s fairly standard among a lot of reputable sellers. As long as you have every card in its own sleeve and are not jamming them in there, and are still using a team bag then you should be fine.

What is funny is you all don't realize the rollers in the process of the mail can damage the card. It can put pressure creases in it. hard to see most of the time. sorry but ill never ship plain white and I've had many cards damaged because of it I'm not just saying this to talk. I am good friends with the mail people here and have seen it my self. Good vid other than that. I will always ship in a bubble mailer does not matter the card. Good luck.

@CardZooSportsCards 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I've sent out over 1000 cards in PWE's and have only had a handful of cards damaged (presumably from USPS handling/sorting). Tell me more about your process...do you think that the added shipping cost of a bubble mailer deters some buyers from buying your cards? Or, do you think some buyers feel better knowing that their card will be in a bubble mailer?
