Great interview and great Selmer sounding horns.

The axos is their best selmer horn in my opinion. Yani has better quality and sound. Cannonball is equal in quality.

To me the two instruments sounded like two totally different worlds. The S II more than just a bit better with it's richer sound. I prefer it by a landslide. That said, there is more to a sax then the sound. To really make an educated decision one of course has to play both of them back to back.

The Axos is more of a student sax compared to the Series II. I wish that they would not call is a professional level.

At the beginning was that just improvisation or is it a song? I really enjoyed the playing and hopefully someone can answer

Just wish I could afford a Selmer or a Cannonball at all 😢 Senior year of High School sucks

If I was able to afford a Selmer, so can you. Before I got my Selmer Reference, I made around $2,000 a month after taxes. I wanted to get my horn within 6 months. I really cut back on really nonessential things, even down to snacks and groceries. I just stuck to my plan. The music shop I dealt with at the time told me the horn will go up in price within a month or two. At that point, I pretty much almost went anorexic while trying to get an extra private tutoring job. I also bargained with the store owner to lower the price if I put down a deposit while agreeing to pay off the balance within a month (That’s how bad I really wanted the horn). I ended up paying off the horn within a week before the end of the month in cash. I also lost about 10 pounds in the process, but it was well worth it. I never went out and made my own food. About two months later, I found out the horn went up in value, due to the fluctuation between the Euro and the Yen (Yes, I lived in Japan). So, if I can do it, so can you. Good luck!

Is there any way you can move a shop into America? It looks so cool but I️ live in America. There isn’t places with thousands of saxophone’s here.

+sax.co.uk Awesome video! I am looking for an alto in this price range, what would you say how does this horn compare to the yani AW01 and the Yamaha 62?
@janskrovanek31826 жыл бұрын
Alexander Meehan thanks for your input. I actually tested all three horns and found the yani has the best mechanics and also a very focused tone. I'll probably go with the yani since I feel like due to its quality it will last for a good amount of time. The seles was also pretty nice to play. The yamaha is difficult to judge for me i didnt really feel any direction the sound goes

I have played them all (not side by side) and i found the axis to be incredible for the money, nice core to the sound. Ergonomics could be a little better, but as far as playing, the axos is miles ahead of the other two. Great value for the money

Hi Jan. I tried the Yamaha 62, Yani AW01 and Selmer Axos a year ago. I was a beginner at the time but even so I found all three to be very nice horns - beautiful sound produced with little effort even for a beginner. I eventually went for the Yani AW01 because its smooth keywork felt the best for me and there was a certain magic - a certain "je ne sais quoi" the Yani had for me personally which the others did not. The case supplied with the Yani is also of a high quality reflecting the quality of the instrument inside it. The entire package is very well put together.

what is the price for the axos? do you know?
@preetdhillon29726 жыл бұрын
Hi Uly Sax. Assuming you are buying it from sax.co.uk, it is selling for £2195. Same price as it was a year ago. I noticed its price had gone up to around £2400 a few weeks ago, making it more expensive than its main competitors the Yani AW01 and Yamaha 62. It stayed at this price for a week or so before returning to its usual price of £2195. Not sure why. Quality instruments like the Axos tend not to vary in price much if you buy them new.

"Serie II legendary instrument" ??? Come on Jerome. Series II is the worst sounding sax of all times. It is a trial on how to make an instrument sound like everything but itself. Series II is so dark that it is not a sax anymore. The series II instruments are the worst mistake Selmer did. And if they ended up selling them this is because they bear the same brand name of the still living legend of the Mark VI.

Kaoson, i disagree, the series 2 its very good, and the price too, it´s fantastic, are you a saxofone player ?? or a cello ???

In your opinion! Mine is the Series II is a fantastic instrument. I've owned one for 10 years. Also owned Balanced Action, Mark VIs and the Ref 54. All different, but nothing inferior about the Series II at all, in my opinion.
