Buying my first serious electric guitar, soon. Currently the quest is hunting for an indiepop, alternative, shoegaze grittygolden janglejolly lollipop of a guitar, and kind of feeling the semi-hollow Vela? Feels like the Jazzie/Gretsch move is almost too obvious, perhaps, and with some poor quality to pennies ratio.

The semi-hollow Vela might be your ticket! It does a lot and I think it would definitely be worth the investment.

I have the Zach Myers semi-hollow PRS and it has a great feel and sound. Likewise with the Hollow Body II Piezo. PRS knows how to make good hollow and semi-hollow guitars.

I agree!!!! They make some of the best hollow body and semi hollows around!

Superb demo, but I got distracted multiple times thinking about Popeyes 🥵

Thank you!!! 🙏🏾 and dude! Oddly enough I haven’t had Popeyes in a long time and it’s overdue!

Just found the satin antique white 2024 for 964 with a tiny scuff. I already have an SE Hollowbody piezo so i jumped at the chance for a solid body american made for the price of an SE

Dude!!!! That is definitely a deal!!!! Congrats on the new guitar! I’m sure it will serve you well! 👍🏾

I love that "Playstation" style opening to your video. I'm curious if you've ever played a PRS Pattern Thin Neck and how it compares to the Pattern Regular neck on the Vela? I hear they are similar.

Thank you!!! 🙏🏾 I love PS1 that might be my favorite era of gaming! But I haven’t tried their pattern thin neck, at least not that I can recall. I’ll have to look into that.

Semihollow for days. I'd love to see your take on tonewoods.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking of doing an episode about the subject. I just want to find a creative way to do it.

3d printed a guitar recently with PLA. It sounds as good as a wood body ... Density and the electronics matter more to tone than the wood itself.
@JasonTMays4 ай бұрын
@@MrJbangoy I’ll have to find a way to creatively explore this topic.

How about the weight difference? Is there much of one with only a small portion of the body hollowed?
@JasonTMays3 ай бұрын
Yea, there’s definitely a weight difference, the semi hollow vela is notably lighter. So it’s very friendly for your back!
@shanetx81Ай бұрын
Even the solid body velas weigh under 6.5 lb generally. These are typically both very light guitars.

Hey PRS fans, Am I missing a lot with the import stock pickups in my S2 Custom 24?
@JasonTMays5 ай бұрын
Depending on the music you’re playing possibly, but if they sound great as is, then you aren’t missing much.
@GuitarType014 ай бұрын
Tough choice. I have ever only owned solid body guitars only because I have always had an acoustic guitar and don’t really need a hollow or semi hollow electric. On another note, it would be interesting to compare the SE and S2 models next.

I kind of wonder what a SE version of the Vela would look like. I don't see PRS coming out with one anytime soon. I just wonder what changes they would make for an SE version.

I thought the same thing, There’s a clear audible difference. I wonder if that’s due to having less mass.
