I have a 1980 Freightliner cabover project Im working on now and I removed all wires and all air lines, interior, lghts etc. Stripped it down to nothing and took it to bead blasting. Then I had them bead blast the cab, frame and the engine. IM in the process of rewiring the truck now and installing interior and new air lines to get it to run and drive under its own power. Then I will see what else I do to it. My point is to clean all that grease and mess under the cab, you need to just bead blast it. Otherwise your in it way to much time like you said. You can see my channel on yt and all the work I did on my 1980 cab over if your curious what the truck looked like after a bead blasting of the cab, motor and frame suspension. I did not do any bondo or all metal work. I do regret that. But it is what it is now. I also painted mine myself and IM not a painter and it shows lol

When it comes to painting truck chassis & trailers, a good quality pressure pot system is invaluable. It would be twice as fast, & a 2 gallon pot helps alot too. After 2 coats of epoxy primer & 2-3 coats of polyurethane it really adds up!

Wouldn’t you want to fill it so it’s flat where the fifth wheel sit to prevent water getting in and pooling and rusting. Or is the paint going to keep it out for good ?

Why Freightliner Airliner Suspension? I've seen a couple of guys do this but never understood?

They are pretty easy to come by, and cost effective.

Love the cabover build, just too bad you did the frame in black. Would have been nice with something different. Your painters do an amazing job though.
