hedegaard8 They thought they can build a cheap airplane by using an unsuitable airframe and putting engines on that airframe that makes it aerodynamically unstable and fixing an aerodynamics issue with software. Instead of using money to build a better airframe he invests it in share buybacks while outsourcing software development for minimum wage. He avoided any documentation for the pilots of such System to avoid costs of training for the airlines. When issues came apparent he did everything to stop the plane being grounded, even after the first crash where over a hundred people died. Although I don’t know if it was Mullinberg or his predecessor McNerney. They always justify their salary with their responsibility.

@Gamebreaker085 жыл бұрын
Ken Zamary AF447 was pilot error, the Paris air show was an unfortunate incident during the a320’s early years. Boeing knowingly put millions of people on a murder machine, that got grounded worldwide! Something that has never happened to an Airbus that was already certified. Millions of people everyday get on a plane with the blind trust of their pilots, the airline, and the aircraft manufacturer not to put them on a defective or broken plane. We automatically trust the pilots not kill us when we know nothing about them, but we blindly trust the airlines.
@KasabianFan445 жыл бұрын
Ken Zamary Have you never done any research in your life? The AF447 crash in Brazil occurred due to severe pilot error, potentially together with poor pilot training. Ask anyone in the aviation industry about this crash and most of them will probably tell you that they would struggle to find another group of pilots who were as incompetent as them. The first officer single-handedly stalled the plane, while the “captain” (for this section of the flight) appeared completely disorientated throughout. AF296 didn’t even happen at the Paris Air Show - it was the Habsheim Air Show. And that was caused by pilot error as well - he deliberately descended to the altitude of 30 feet despite being cleared for 100 feet. Moreover, he put the engines to near-idle, which meant it took them longer to go full-power once the pilot had realised his mistake. Of course, you would already know all that if you actually cared about facts, instead of just listing two of the most well-known Airbus incidents and thinking that makes them just as bad.

Boeing want to release the new airplane before or in the same time as Airbus A320 Neo which use new larger trust and lower fuel consumption than the previous A320, the 737 airframe is the answer, Boeing put new engine as the Neo but the 737 groung clearance is too small to put the engine under wings so they move the engine to front of the wing that change the Center of Gravity "CG" of the airplane and this made the airplane nosedown during in the air, the MCAS come to solve this issue.
@LonelyTigerGrowl5 жыл бұрын
Bigger engines mean more lift. MCAS is developed to use the trim tab in the elevators to lower the noise of airplane during lift. With only one sensor to detect aircraft pitch, (up and down) the MCAS was a total fail and override the pilots entry.

jesus, “I don’t know how we should trust sensors outside of the plane”??! Why have totally clueless senators ask any questions. shouldn’t people with at least basic knowledge of how an airplane works be the ones asking questions? The only sensor “inside” the cockpit might be the pilots’ eyes and ears, which clearly are not the best attitude/altitude determination nor speed measuring devices. The senator might even think the pitot tube is some kind of AI sending commands. Just 20mins of wikipedia reading before the hearing might be enough to be able to ask relevant questions and have some clue about how tests are made in very complex systems and what the airfrance accident was about. Obviously one of the biggest scandals in aircraft safety, probably tons of people should be jailed, but do not see how any of these questions will help in anything.

Sokeresa yeah, but she was implying that airplanes should not rely on sensors “”outside”” the airplane, and that’s just plain stupid. Not only (semi autonomous) safety systems will always rely on those sensors but pilots also must rely on them for flying “manually”. Pilots obviously cannot tell at which angle of attack the airplane is pointing with their sense of equilibrium. Would be like saying we should not rely on brakes when driving, after a car accident due to that.

the salient question is why Boeing is not treated the same as when VW auto makers which falsely claimed to have 0 emission, a marketing white lie, the VW was punished to pay a huge amount of money to everyone( to the US government and those who purchased the car). why Boeing is so privileged and exempted from the any financial punishment?

I jut want to say that underneath it all it is not a software problem, it is a built problem - the airplane cannot fly straight on its own (because of how the jetenjines sit "in" the wings, thus messing up aerodynamics). If the plane could fly on its own, then it wouldn't need a software to make it not fall, would it? If a machine cannot fly straight without a software, then it cannot fly - period! The software is there to "put paper on the cracks" and salvage a dead project. I hope the whole world boycots this madness of an airplane.

Lies. MCAS is in the B767 and has dual AOA sensor input and automatic system disengage with pilot stick input. Had either of these redundancies been in the MAX, hundreds of people would still be alive today.

MCAS is on the KC-46 Pegasus based on the 767 but not the 767 itself

He took home $30 million last year including stock options and many millions more before that ... so a couple of days of shit face is basically worth it but all those poor souls and their families. Luckily there are some good people in the US still.

As, A & P licensed by the FAA in 1971 and Aeronautical Eng. and retired, cannot remember that FAA in a certification of a Airframe/Aircraft that had a “Single Point of Failure”. This is not a Experimental Aircraft, this is a Commercial People Carrier! Boeing has bought the FAA and Certified a Flying Coffin and should “Scrap” all the 737 Max or park them in Arizona(Sonoran Desert). Knowing the Dwindling War Chest of the Republicans, the 737 Max will make a move to reappear but the General Public will not “Accept” this decision and Air Bus(Better designed ACraft, ask Scully) will be the winner in this Segment.
