Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announces he will step down as Republican leader in November. He has has served as party leader since 2007, the longest in Senate history. "I turned 82 last week. the end of my contributions are closer than I'd prefer...I always imagined a moment when I had total clarity and peace" about the sunset of my work.
