What a great speech. This man personified the America that I grew up in. The Dole family themselves have made such great contributions to our country, our economy and our faith. I hope someday that as a country we will have our greatest tomorrows. We need to return to our foundations, better leadership, our faith in God so that we can have a better tomorrow. RIP Bob Dole. Imagine if Congress was filled with individuals who were truly dedicated to the People and the country as a whole, rather than pandering to extremists, lobbyists, special interests, and their own Twitter accounts. Imagine what we could accomplish. I think it's because people like Senator Dole and Senator Inouye knew what it was to truly fight for democracy, even if they lost their lives in doing so. So many of our current members of Congress don't have that perspective. Listen to how often Senator Dole gives credit and respect to not only his Republican colleagues, but to his colleagues on the other side of the aisle. The civility, respect, and straight up love for his fellow senators in this speech is sorely missing in today's political landscape. If you're a politician--city, state or federal--you need to watch this speech to get back to the basics of governing and realize that it's not about you, it's about the people you were elected to represent.
