Kudos Ledama Ole Kina. Very sober reasoning. If the President hasn't overshot his travel budget with all the many travels, then he may not be the one to blame per se. It simply means budget makers, and the President's handlers, are keen on wasteful expenses rather than real prudent use of funds. That is the process which must be reviewed. But then the President doesn't have to be like a boarding school student who, because he finds he has 1500/- towards end of term then he must spend all of it even if it means buying loads of biscuits. If, for example, he cuts 3 trips and helps some few build public toilets along the Nairobi - Mombasa Highway (as courts had ordered) wouldn't he look better? Me thinks so.

Yes, travel is essential, but most Presidential visits, including the US President's foreign visits, happen at the beginning of rapport building and the closing of the deals! Trade representatives care out most discussion before the president travels to bring the bacon! Ruto is all over; he is the first and last! Sen. The senator is not trying to be nice.Oledama is a thoughtful senator. The fact that he is arguing for travel does not support Ruto's unnecessary travel. What is advocating is accountability and transparency. The senator is not justifying Ruto's travel by any means...
