As a New York Yankee fan, God bless him. What a "Man"! I am so proud that as a Brooklynite that the old Dodgers fans would yell, "Here's that 'Man' again!" and gave him that famous nickname. In hearing the stories of his life after baseball he is even bigger than his baseball statistics... if that is POSSIBLE! Wow.

Stan Musial gave me a autographed baseball while I was working on the late Senator Paul Simon's 1984 United states Senate campaign Stan was a pure hitter.

Anything but a fan of Durbin. but love this speech! In Texas the Cardinals were the favorite MLB team from the time of the GAS HOUSE GANG, or maybe as the time of Rogers Hornsby, another great hitter, and the 1926 World Series champion including Grove Cleveland Alexander. Became aware of Musial when I was about 10, and found a comic book depicting him as this intimidating figure with the strange battle stance. Followed him to the end of his career,
